I know those are all your opinion, but geez, sounds like so much hate for those songs. a-hard-days-night-paul-3
By the way, if the auto-skip thing is for Yoko’s presence, why Birthday isn’t listed? a-hard-days-night-ringo-7 She’s doing vocals there too.

Let me take you down 'cause I'm going to...Strawberry Fields.

No hate, just reasons. :)

And yes, you’re right, I missed “Birthday .” I usually skip that one too, although the Yoko factor isn’t as high as it is in the solo line she gets to sing in “Bungalow Bill.”

Not a bit like Cagney.

Hope that those are truly just reasons and not hate. ahdn_ringo_09

PeterWeatherby, I only agree with 50% of your dislikes – but get a kick out of your analyses.

The only one I can think of is You Know My Name but even that can be charming at times – though rarely listened to. I get that they were kind of riffing on their current favourites (Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band) in the same way they had done with the Byrds, Dylan, Spoonful, the previous years. But the Doo Dah simply wasn’t as good as those bands, in my view, and while I find the Beatles very funny often, I only find them mildly humorous here, if not a tad obnoxious. If I want funny Beatles, I’d rather watch Hard Day’s Night or any press conference. Still, I can’t rank it lower than ok.

Here are my picks for the worst song on each album.

Please Please Me – “A Taste Of Honey ” or as John called it, “A Waste of Money”.  It does sound kind of old, but it’s not that bad of a song in my opinion.

With The Beatles – “Little Child ” I felt like this just served as an interruption in the flow of the album.

A Hard Day’s Night – It’s hard to say; I don’t think any of the songs are that bad.  Maybe “I’ll Cry Instead “.

Beatles For Sale – “Mr. Moonlight” The organ solo ruined it for me.

Help ! – “Act Naturally ” or “Dizzy Miss Lizzy

Rubber Soul – “Run For Your Life ”  I thought it was silly that they ended the album with this track.

Revolver – “Doctor Robert

Sgt Pepper – “Fixing A Hole ”  I do like this song, but out of all of Pepper’s tracks, I think this is the weakest.

Magical Mystery Tour – “Flying

The Beatles – “Wild Honey Pie ”  There were quite a few strange and silly tracks on the White Album , but just what were they thinking when they put this on there?

Yellow Submarine – “All Together Now ”  Again, it’s not necessarily a bad song, but I think the others are a little better.

Abbey Road – “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer

Let It Be – “Dig It ”  Why did Spector think this would be okay?  It’s not.

Past Masters – “You Know My Name”

I’m only really knowledgeable about their music from Rubber Soul onwards (my plan is to listen to all the albums before hand in the next week or two!), so I’ll just list the songs from that period I don’t particularly like.

Girl – There is something about this song that really rubs me up the wrong way. The deep breath that happens each chorus is gold though.
Yellow Submarine – I just find this very annoying.
She’s Leaving Home – It’s a bit too full on. I appreciate what’s trying to happen, my dislike is just personal taste
Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite – Is this meant to be a joke? Not the worst Beatles song but I can’t take it seriously.
When I’m Sixty-Four – Not a music hall fan (oddly enough I love Martha My Dear )
Wild Honey Pie – Really? Really?
Rocky Raccoon – This is downright embarrassing…sorry Paul.
Honey Pie – My 2nd least favourite Beatles track…When I’m Sixty-Four but even worse.
Good Night – The worst Beatles song.
All Together Now – Their most boring song? I don’t know, but I can’t make it past 1 minute when listening to it
The Long And Winding Road – The Naked version is actually okay, but the LIB version…see She’s Leaving Home

every other song I can honestly say I like. Even Revolution 9 .

Ironically, they started recording the Rubber Soul album with that track! a-hard-days-night-ringo-14

Good Morning Good Morning has the least good lyrics but it has a very unique rhythm (Fixing A Hole has its charm too, though I can understand why it is the least good for you of the album).

Pattie Boyd (George Harrison ‘s wife at the time a-hard-days-night-george-9) pushed Wild Honey Pie to be released.

He could have included instead the Glyn Johns, 5 minute version of Dig It for the Get Back album.

I didn’t know they started recording Rubber Soul  with “Run For Your Life “.  Well, I’m glad it wasn’t the opening track then!

Yeah, “Good Morning Good Morning ” doesn’t have the best lyrics, but as you said, it has a great rhythm which kept me from choosing it as my least favorite for that album.

Again, there’s something I didn’t know, so I’ll change my comment for “Wild Honey Pie “: What was she thinking!

Yeah, I guess it’s good that we didn’t have to hear the extended version of “Dig It ” on Let It Be , but even 50 seconds is too much for me.  That’s why I prefer the “Naked” version of Let It Be most of the time.

Sun King gets my vote. I find it a plodding snooze-fest from start to end, no Abbey Rd track earns Ian Macdonald’s phrase ‘bland sunshine’ quite as much as this one.

Haha, that’s good, I’m glad you caught my “vibe.” Just having a little fun with it, that’s all. :)

And to those who listed “Good Morning, Good Morning” as being on the bad list, all I can say is give it another chance. That exploding percussion at the end of the first line in each verse (“Nothing to do to save his life, call his wife in … BWOOSH!”) was enough to hook me for life.

Oh, and I just wanted to point out: you’ll notice that my list contains zero entries from either the Hard Day’s Night or Revolver albums. I love both of those albums in their entirety, and I’m not sure that’s true of any other album(s) in my life, by any artist, period. I think that’s rather amazing, that the Beatles put out not one, but two albums that I enjoy end-to-end.

Not a bit like Cagney.

Chronologically:
Ob-La-Di-Ob-La-Da
Honey Pie (“Wild” and otherwise)
You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)
The Long And Winding Road .

Before that most of the stinkers were covers, imho.

I love Sun King . In the very beginning I found it boring but it soon grew on me. It’s so calming and relaxing, but not in a boring way anymore. Also, I just love the intro. I could listen to that intro for half an hour and not become tired of it.

^^ Ah, yeah, I love Sun King . One of the highlights of Abbey Road IMO. It is really relaxing, just wish it were a bit longer…
