To say no hardcore fan can have a Favourite is wrong. My favourite is While My Guitar Gently Weeps , and I’m quite sure no one would call me not-hardcore.
Why While My Guitar Gently Weeps ? It’s a beautiful song, and one of George’s best but there’s so many others that are amazing too.
I, personally, couldn’t possibly say what my favourite song is. In fact, I don’t think I’ve even got a favourite album.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps was my favourite beatles song, the first year I knew the beatles (I had heard some songs before but it was the first year I really knew who they were and I liked them) and that was I think my fourth year at school, now my seventh ends. It’s nice but, well George really weeps in this song and sometimes I just can’t listen to it (nevertheless it’s an awesome song). Another george song which was once my favourite beatles song was Old Brown Shoe , don’t ask me why

Act Naturally is upping itself in my list of great songs. Absolutely no idea why, used to think of it as a bit of Ringo album filler.
Im now of the opinion that if push came with gun threat i would be able to pick a top 5. I’d even go so far as to say that my number 1 could be No Reply .

I understand completely! But I have like moods for what song I’m into at that time, if that makes since, and right now my song for the moment is “For No One “. But thats not my favourite song, in that case I don’t have one.

Why ‘Got To Get You Into My Life ‘ NEVER is quoted as favourite song (and I’m a hardcore fan !) ?

Amen brother! And please forgive my editing your original post in this reply. Somehow, I don’t think you will mind.

I said elsewhere that if pushed it would be No Reply for me and whilst there are so many tracks i absolutely adore and never ever ever lose love for that would be the one i would settle on if required to.
Same with a top ten or top 50 or top 300 its possible.

That “elsewhere” was on 17 June, meanmistermustard, barely enough time to decree No Reply as your all-time favourite.
Selecting a favourite Beatles song is like the ‘Brady Bunch’ parents announcing their favourite child – you just shouldn’t do it.

I dont get that. What do you mean Wildcat by “That elsewhere was on 17 June, meanmistermustard, barely enough time to decree No Reply as your all-time favourite.”?
I also fail to see the issue with naming youre all time beatles track, why does it matter?

Well, I wouldn’t say that “all” of the Beatles songs are my favorites — but I can say that thinking about my “favorite” Beatles song puts a great strain on the hierarchical listing like a “Top Ten”.
For me, there simply cannot be only one #1 Beatles song, or a #2, etc. My Top Ten would have to have multiple entries for each one.
I haven’t thought about it enough to post a definitive list right now, but just off the top of my head I can list a few that would definitely occupy, all together, the #1 slot for me:
the “You Never Give Your Money” medley
Back in the U.S.S.R.
I could go on and on…
Every one of the songs I listed above would, in my mind, have to be #1 (and there are probably a few more I could add).

When I’m listening to the Beatles, either full albums or on shuffle, I never skip a song for the reason of not liking it. The only reason of skipping it is for time constraints (when I want to get to a specific song before I have to stop listening-which I always hate when the time comes)
I’m the same way. In fact, I honestly enjoy every Beatles song, except for Mr. Moonlight and Revolution 9 (both of which I listen to maybe 1 out of every 10 times I listen to their respective albums).

About not having a favourite song: the same could be said for any band whith a large and varied catalogue. If they ask me what’s my favourite Beatles song I have to answer at least 5-6 titles (if I’m really good at choosing them, otherwise I need 10 or 12). I have the same difficulties with other bands I like (especially Queen).
But when I dislike a song, I have no problem admitting it; it’s not that I have to like everything just because it’s my favourite band. If I don’t skip songs, it’s usually because the albums aren’t that long: 35-40 minutes is a reasonable time, so I can stand some slightly boring parts. The same can’t be said for recent albums of 1 hour (the limits of the vinyl weren’t a bad thing).

For the most part I agree. While not all of the songs are my favorite, the majority of the catalog is; therefore, its almost for me just to pick when someone ask me that question. On the other hand, I probably listen to my non favorite Beatles songs over some other bands non favorite songs or even another bands favorite song to me. I’m weird I know.

I used to have favorite Beatles songs, they would change frequently, but they were still favorite songs. Now, though, I don’t seem to have one. Maybe that’s just because I haven’t been listening to a lot of The Beatles the past year. I think I might have tired myself of them for a bit. They were practically all I listened to for about two years, so I have kind of been taking a break. I still bring their albums to listen to in the car, and listen to their solo stuff all the time, and am currently reading two books on them, so I guess it’s not exactly what you would call a break, but for me it is.
