Wow. That’s as close as I’ve come to disliking the Forum. Even the contentious arguments in some threads can be entertaining or informative, when they are based on principled differences of opinion. But open derision and mocking…ugh. And all in the name of aggressively defending a preference to be physically indolent.
I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

If folks simply want to ask others if their individual posts serve any real purpose, that is a slippery slope. Not a great idea. I think we can either drop that part of the conversation or move it to the “Derail”. It will be easier to ignore there.
Conversations like this are the reason I uses a forum time out zone that I can put the posts and sometimes, the people who are making the post so they can continue off the main forum until they get it out of their system and come back. (though it’s saved for the thread clogging type of stuff like the Day in the Life Ahhh thread would be in there.
If you can't log in and can't use the forum go here and someone will help you out.

I wasn’t arguing with anyone. I was doing performance art.
There was literally nothing to argue about in this thread. If people interpreted what happened as arguing, that’s their business. Wigwam clearly stated that his intentions were to ask whether my post was wasted since no one took the bait. No offense taken. I did take offense at the Yoko bashing, though.
I just thought it was funny that everyone was talking about whether the posts were worth it. I think the idea of grading posts is amusing.

It wasn’t that bad was it?
I don’t belive there was any malicious intent, but unless one is inside the head of the poster, others have no way of knowing for sure and folk could get defensive. I’ve had it happen to me on both sides – as a poster and a reader. That is what I meant when I wrote “ask(ing) others if their individual posts serve any real purpose…is a slippery slope”. The answer to the question, “It wasn’t that bad was it?” is both yes and no. In this particular case, I’m leaning toward “no, it wasn’t that bad” because I don’t feel anyone was out to cause any harm, folks were simply having fun. I just felt the need to nip it in the bud before it became a big deal.
Thanks everyone.

I have trouble believing that @Zig has been perceived to give offense. That must have been in the infancy of the Forum before he polished his technique to the high sheen that everybody admires now.
