I Saw Her Standing There / Twist And Shout – imagine this as their debut single!
I never understood why they weren’t released as singles. History has it, they were killer songs when they played them at the Cavern!

I can’t imagine ‘Love Me Do ‘ not being their debut single.
They were not keen on having singles on the albums as they did not want to rip off the fans by making them buy the same songs multiple times. Unfortunately the record company execs felt otherwise.
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

Was Eight Days A Week a single? With the fade in intro it has screams single to me.
Yellow Submarine always felt like a single to me as well.

I still don’t consider that a ripoff, myself, unless the record company decided to charge more for (for instance) a 16-track “Rubber Soul ” that added “Day Tripper /We Can Work It Out ” than they did for the regular 14-track version.

@ohthatmagicfeeling, Eight Days A Week was a number 1 single in the US and therefore made it on to ‘1’. It was in the running to be a single in the UK but ‘I Feel Fine ‘ was the obvious hit after they recorded that a later during the sessions and so it became another album track. Additionally neither John or Paul were big fans of it to the point of not playing it during their US Autumn ’64 tour.
