All right, this was THE BEATLES. Anything they released automatically became a hit. They could have released Revolution 9 /What’s The New Mary Jane and people would have bought it. And even not being so crazy, most of their songs could have been hits after 1964

I’m not so sure. I love the song, I think it’s lovely and the harmonies are fantastic, but the success of its A-side goes to show that the teenagers listening to the Beatles by this point wanted something more fiery I think. Not to say it wouldn’t have sold, but I think it suits being a B just fine. After Please Please Me , I think releasing this would’ve been seen as ”going back” slightly.

I think what would have been very interesting, especially in 1969/1970, would have been to release You Know My Name (Look Up The Number) as an A side with something purposely “weak” as the B side (like an edited version of Revolution 9 ) , so DJs couldn’t create an alternate A side by playing the B side.
Imagine DJs having to say, “So OK folks, here’s the new single by the Beatles – this one is different – let us know what you think!” and then playing YKMNLUTN
You have to wonder how high or low on the charts it would have gone.

B-Sides get no love from a casual fans. Some of my favorite songs from 1963 were all B-sides. If This Boy was backed with another song, then it would’ve been a hit.
And if you saw my love, I'll love her to.

I think Across The Universe would have made a good single.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I adore This Boy . It’s beautiful. I think it’s the first song of theirs that I really liked, actually. I just don’t think it would’ve done so well in the charts. I dunno, maybe I’m wrong.

Do you mean the Past Masters version. What would be the B-side. Perhaps, “Only A Northern Song .”
I suggest, “Glass Onion ,” / “Rocky Raccoon .”

Hi this is the biggest panamanian (pty, code for Panama) beatle fan saying hello, I consider that “Rain “, the B-side of “Paperback Writer “, would have made a good and chart topper single.
That’s what I was thinking.

Here Comes The Sun , It Won’t Be Long , maybe even No Reply , Drive My Car , Michelle (for a long time I thought DMC and Michelle both were singles!), Saw her standing there..Oh and of course Revolution 9 . Obviously.
Of course… It would’ve been but was probably too long for a single…

It could work if it is both the A and B side

Good stuff …….except for Piggies and Savoy Truffle ….. George’s representation is about right without these two.

Ha ha yeah, the very thought of hearing “Walrus” on the radio in ’67 – I can imagine all those teenagers fiddling with their transistor-dials, trying in vain to get better reception when that shortwave-static/”King Lear” bit begins!
I read your post… and I can’t stop laughing!
