Oh, I’ve always loved Yellow Submarine . It works as a novelty song, a children’s song, or as full blown psychedelia. I’ve heard a lot of people criticize it, but I think it’s absolutely brilliant. But you’re right, it is a weird little song, very unusual subject matter.
That was one of the best thing about the Beatles, they could write a song about anything and it would still be great and even in cartoon their still hilarious! Such a pick-me-up on a bad day.

Nobody’s mentioned I Am The Walrus as weird. Maybe that fact is weird in itself.

You Know My Name (Look Up The Number) was the first song that popped in my head as well. I can’t think of a “weirder” Beatles track, though perhaps wacky or zany might be a better adjective. Aside from the others that @Timothy mentioned above, I would include Blue Jay Way and Only A Northern Song . Now that I think of it, many of George’s Beatles songs lean to the weirder side, rather than being straightforward like Got My Mind Set On You. I’d also nominate Good Morning Good Morning , with its measures of 10/4 time (or however you choose to notate it) and silly animal sounds, along with the circus-like overtones of Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite . LSD is a heckuva drug!
Also, Abbey Road Medley: Polythene Pam , Mean Mr Mustard , She Came In Through The Bathroom Window , Sun King , Her Majesty …
And I’d also include Gnik Nus (Sun King in reverse, from Love album).
As I recall from Giles Martin’s notes from the album, he played Sun King backwards by accident but he liked the effect – a thing, as Giles says, Lennon
would surely approve.

Hmm. I think it would depend on how he felt at the time when asked.
I could see John saying ‘why not, it’s 40 odd years old and was a pile of garbage anyway’, or alternatively ‘leave the bloody song alone and make something brand new’.
