And I liked the one about the medicine man who kills people with a heavy tool until I saw that one comedian with white hair do it in that one horrible movie starring that one hot guy whose initials are PF.
Heh, that bit where SM muffs the lyric while having his surgical mask attached is the high point (ie. the only enjoyable 5-second excerpt) of the movie!
(Actually, to be fair, the Aerosmith and Earth Wind & Fire performances were good, and they were rewarded with hit singles. But both bands did a lot better by their own music. Likewise, Billy Preston's “Get Back ” gets a pass from me, due to his exalted position in Beatles history. Of the rest of that soundtrack, I cannot recall a single note, having only seen the picture once back in '82 or so. And that soundtrack's full of performers – Alice Cooper, the Bee Gees, even Peter Frampton – who all recorded music of their own that I value a lot.)
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

I love that song! What's wrong with you, Polythene Dan? Everyone loves the music man! (Except for most guys in the world)
I like it.
Count me in – I prefer the Anthology version (even though Macca flubs the words a bit) beacause George's guitar sounds awesome live on that track.
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

Well George Harrison liked it- so John said- so there's someone right there. Personally, I like it.

I think the OP is on to something here.
Every record going seems to be someone’s favourite.
Have you ever noticed that virtually every CD that amazon sell has an average customer rating of close to 5 stars!
Surely they can’t all be that good?
Even notoriously bad records are getting 5 star reviews.
For example Self Portrait by Bob Dylan is on there and there are all sorts of people giving it five stars. I’m as big a Dylan fan as I am a Beatles fan and there is no way on earth that Self Portrait is anywhere even close to being as good as Times They are a Changin’ or Blonde on Blonde. Giving Self Portrait 5 stars makes a mockery of the ratings system.

I think what happens when an older artist releases new stuff is that the fans go mad, and they’re happy to see something, anything. So they give it 4 or 5 stars, because that’s how happy they are that this artist (who’s been around for some time) has released something new. Look at Paul’s New,people have gone quite mad over it, but is it his best work? No, it’s not. In fact, personally, I think it’s quite mediocre. I like it, but I wouldn’t go any further than that. Yet if I had to rate it, I’d feel really mean and too critical giving it just two stars, so I probably wouldn’t. I’d give it more. After all, despite the quality of music and/or how much I like it, I’m very happy he released it.
Moving along in our God given ways, safety is sat by the fire/Sanctuary from these feverish smiles, left with a mark on the door.

Some diehard fans will lap up anything an artist puts out and proclaim it the best thing they have ever done ever even before they hear it, giving it 5 stars before its even released (or leaked), and never admit to any of being anywhere near less than the greatest music ever released. Its the world we live in and why we should pay no attention to reviews*, well place little meaning or merit on them.
*Talking about music here. I make a point of checking reviews before buying hoovers, bread machines, earphones etc as its an appliance and can be useless when in use.
