I think Fixing A Hole doesn’t get it’s due either. Along with You Never Give Me Your Money , it is sandwiched quietly inside an album full of great songs, which is probably why.
Speaking of You Never Give Me Your Money , The Beatles Bible is cited in the Wiki entry for the song, talking about the arrangement and instrumentation. Just one more reason this is the best Beatles forum on the planet! @Joe, be proud of your baby!
Oh, @mithveaen, I can totally related to Girl. That opening line is downright haunting. EDIT: And I can relate to the line “And she promises the Earth to me and I believe her, after all this tiIme I don’t know why”. And I don’t think @Ahhh Girl would agree that it’s underrated After all, every time she posts the song gets mentioned (which is well over 2k, maybe 3k, can’t remember offhand!)
ps – does anyone else get a weird glitch when mentioning @Ahhh Girl? It comes up as an apparently random string (cbatcu, I don’t think we have a member by that name) when I click her name in the box after typing a few letters, but ends up with the right name when previewed or posted. Yes I’ve tried it a dozen times…

When I’m Sixty-Four and Honey Pie . I just love the music hall instrumentals; I’d love to use that sort of stuff in my songs.

I totally agree. Both excellent songs. I find Every Little Thing another really enjoyable track; it’s one of my favorites from Beatles For Sale .
The Night Before and You Won’t See Me – both sandwiched between more well-known Beatles tracks – are quite underrated, I’d say.
Most of the songs on Let It Be (besides all the songs from it that made it on the Blue Album , which is quite a few) are pretty underrated. One After 909 , I Me Mine , I’ve Got A Feeling (surely one of my favorites on the album for the vocal and guitar work alone), and For You Blue .
Okay, I’ll admit it – I really like Flying . It has a great melody even for an instrumental, and the whole song is really soothing. It also acts as a nice kind of foil between the melancholy Fool On The Hill and the fit-for-Halloween-soundtrack Blue Jay Way (which is also underrated).
The Inner Light – another beautiful song, and I really like the way the Indian instruments are used in this one.
And Your Bird Can Sing – one of the best guitar riffs in any Beatles song, in my opinion. The vocals are, again, done really well (but then, they almost never weren’t.)
Oh, and yes, Piggies . I used to hate it, though, because I thought it was just some drugged-up song (as in, George was high when he wrote it) literally about pigs on a farm (this was before I became obsessed with the Beatles’ music, though.) And for some reason I never remembered how awesome the “in their sties with all their backing” part is.
…and looking back one page showed me that most of these have already been mentioned. Anyone who used any of these songs: I agree!

To begin with, I agree with most of you. I think you mentioned lots of songs that are underrated. I would add “The Fool On The Hill ” for lots of reasons, being the lyrics and its message one of them.

When I think of underrated Beatles songs, ones that usually come to mind are a lot of B-sides like Rain and The Inner Light and some White Album gems such as Cry Baby Cry and Long Long Long. I would even say A Day In The Life is a little underrated, mainly because it’s the greatest song ever known to man and despite being pretty well known, should be more widely recognized in my opinion.

Nobody else seems to like it (probably due to the lyrics which are not deemed suitable nowadays – tons of songs would now fit into this category) but Little Child is a great early Beatles raver. Total and utter filler of the highest order however it powers away for 107 seconds filling space very admirably – and i love John’s harmonica. Something the Beatles were brilliant at was filling an LP up with songs that in another bands hands would have you looking at the clock wondering why on earth it existed never mind was on a piece of vinyl and spinning around on your record player yet in their hands gets your foot tappin’ – well mine at least. Let the words pass you by and just get caught up in the excitement.
I Wanna Be Your Man would be in the same category being total filler but raves for its entirety.

I really like “You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away ” and “I Need You .” Slow, but great songs all the same! I also like “Mean Mr. Mustard” for its slick feel. Also, “This Boy ” had incredible vocals!
