Wikipedia says the song was written for AHDN and that there was lip synching to it.
Any one know what scene it would have been in?

Filming ‘AHDN ‘ ended on April 24th whereas ‘Things We Said Today ‘ was written in May and recorded on the 2nd June. It would have been impossible for any lip-syncing to be filmed after this date as on the 3rd of June they were in the recording studios all day and on the 4th they departed on a world tour not returning until 2nd July, 4 days before the film premiered in London.

I find it interesting in this live version of this song (video below) it sounds like they played a different chord at the beginning– I think it would be an A minor 7 if you’re wondering. Now, I always thought, on the record, it was straight A minor, but perhaps Am7 was played and the higher notes not really sounded. I just had a close listen and I could hear no evidence of that high G note played here– and he’s proper banging it out so it would be hard not to hit that highest string.
(The song actually starts at about thirty seconds in.)
