Well, i like this one very much. One of my favorites from their first album. Love the way jonh sings “Like i loooove… oooonly youuuu” and “in my mind there’s no sorrow”… And the way the two voices are combined… and the mouth-organ bits are just at the right place, and at the right moment.

I was listening to Please Please Me (the album) a lot lately. And realized that There’s a place and Please Please Me both share same tonality and same two chords at the intro.

True!
My favourite part of the song? “In my mind there’s no sorrow, Don’t you know that it’s so?”
I love the theme of the song because it makes our mind a sanctuary. Somewhere we can find solace and dream.

That became one of John’s favourite themes over the years. In that way, There’s A Place can be seen as a progenitor to Strawberry Fields Forever .

Daily Beatles Song Review Day 13/213: There’s a Place
This is a song I have very mixed feelings on, in a way that is unique on this album. This is the first Beatles song I would say that has great lyrics, and they are easily the highlight of the song. However, I think the rest of the song is not at all as good as the lyrics. While the song is related to romance, it is primarily a song of introspection. It’s a song about making peace in your own head, and being able to find comfort there. It’s by far the best lyrical theme on the record.
However, musically, I find the song only “okay” rather than great. I think the vocals from Paul, and George aren’t very good, for one. They’re fine, but they feel dry and boring compared to John, who is putting more energy into it than they are. The instrumentation is also not the best. The highlight is the drumming from Ringo, which is great. However, the bass and the guitars ultimately just come across as average (or even slightly below par). The harmonica is fine, but it’s mixed too loudly. Overall, I feel like this song is great but this record is not, because of their performances. It’s still one of the better songs on the album though.
Score: 7/10.
Favorite cover of the song: There’s a pretty decent power-pop cover by the band Flamin’ Groovies.

This song is outstanding. The sustained notes in the verse establish an extremely catchy theme that continuously develops lyrically and melodically, rising higher, falling back down, and rising again. The vocal performances aren’t quite on the level of Twist And Shout , I Saw Her Standing There or even Anna, but the tune itself has so much energy that I almost prefer this song being stuck in my head to actually listening to it. With that said I enjoy listening to it very much, my favorite part being the 2nd verse.
“I think of you, the things you do go round my head, the things you said.”
That couplet definetly has a different feel on paper than when paired with the great melody of this song.

I find the lyrics and theme of the song far better than the song itself which I find quite dull. The lyrics again highlight the potential of the songwriters.
