I know! But if we follow the rule of the “most important songs”… isn't it Love You To the first Beatle song with no Western structure? That's musical landmark I guess.
Oh well. Anyway I already ordered my magazine.
Here comes the sun….. Scoobie-doobie……
Something in the way she moves…..attracts me like a cauliflower…
Bop. Bop, cat bop. Go, Johnny, Go.

That's a good point.
I guess I'm quite fond of Love You To right now.
It's weird that it's not on there, the two Harrisongs from Rubber Soul (Think For Yourself and If I Needed Someone ) are both on the list, but I think Love You To is far superior to either of those songs. I don't really understand how they compiled the list because it seems pretty inconsistent, some songs are on there because of their importance and some are on their because of just how good they are. For example, All You Need Is Love is somewhere in the 20's, but I don't think anyone would consider it a better song than say I Am The Walrus , which was ranked lower.

I think “Think For Yourself ” is better.

Looks like a very bizarre and arbitrary list indeed. (I haven't seen it yet). But was anybody REALLY surprised that “A Day In The Life ” would top it? I'd say it was inevitable. (“All You Need Is Love ” beating “Walrus” is a total wtf?, unquestionably.)
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

Sorry MMM, didn't mean to compare Harrisongs there because I think they're both fantastic and well worthy of a top 100 spot!
I think we collectively could come up with a top 10 that is better than the Rolling Stone list, so if you want list one song and give a reason why you think it should be in the top 10. I'll start.
Tomorrow Never Knows – If I Want To Hold Your Hand can be classified as the second most important Beatles song of all time, how the hell can Rolling Stone justify TNK being ranked only at 18? Regardless of how you feel about the song itself, this was the track, originally just known as “Mark I”, that sparked the Revolver sessions and truly pushed music to places it had never been before. As foremost Beatle expert Mark Lewisohn so aptly puts it, TNK was not just a leap into tomorrow, but “sometime next week.” This songs importance alone warrants a top 10 spot, and combined with the quality of the song itself it is well worthy, in my opinion, of the top spot overall.

Top spot? Meh. Unless you mean something like this:
10.
9.
8.
7.
6.
5.
4.
3. “Run For Your Life .” (I will ALWAYS rank this as the Worst Song Ever, no matter what Zig says.)
2. “Mr. Moonlight.”
1. Everything else. 😀
But I do agree that TNK deserves better than #18.
But “A Day In The Life ” HAS to be on there. It HAS to.

It's not “hated.” It's “hate.”
And it's because of the lyrics. >:(
