Hey all, what do you consider the 10 greatest Beatles songs of all time? It’s not an easy question to answer. On the new episode of the All Time Top Ten music podcast, myself and my two guests, songwriters Shannon Hurley and Marina V each count down, discuss and play our 10 favorite Beatles songs. Take a listen and see if you agree. Let us know if we got it wrong and what we forgot. Here’s the link:

I would say the one’s that had the most impact:
Please Please Me , I Want To Hold Your Hand , She Love’s You, Can’t Buy Me Love , Eight Days A Week , Yesterday , In My Life , Hey Jude , Something & Let It Be
The further one travels, the less one knows

This isn’t possible. It’s crazy to even attempt. I won’t even…
Strawberry Fields Forever . A Day In The Life . Tomorrow Never Knows . The Medley.
Well, those are some of them.

I’d add A Day In The Life and Strawberry Fields Forever and perhaps switch them with Can’t Buy Me Love and Eight Days A Week .
Also, what about Tomorrow Never Knows or Eleanor Rigby ?

Are we talking subjectively or objectively? IE top 10 in our own opinions, or what we feel are the 10 greatest as appreciated by the greater world at large?
Going by the 2nd criterion, I’d say (in no particular order):
4. Hey Jude
5. Let it Be
6. In My Life
7. Yesterday
10. Penny Lane
(honorable mention: All You Need Is Love , Something , Here Comes The Sun , Please Please Me , All My Loving , Can’t Buy Me Love , Help !, Norwegian Wood )

I’m usually bored by lists that report the objective statistical mass.

For my subjective Top Ten, going into it I really don’t think it’s possible, because there are simply too many good songs that vie in my heart equally for most of those ten slots (not to mention that I find it extraordinarily difficult to adjudicate how one excellent song is a 3 and not a 2, for example).
But I’ll give it a go, and simply scan down Joe’s alphabetical list of all songs (leaving out the solo ones, of course).
The first thing I’ll do is simply list all the songs I would spontaneously want to list, knowing they will amount to way more than ten:
Abbey Road Medley (the whole bloody thing I’ll count as one song)
Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite
Girl
Good Morning, Good Morning
Help !
[I’m only halfway through the alphabet, and I’m already over 10…!]
Revolution (the slow one)
Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band/With A Little Help From My Friends
You’re Going To Lose That Girl
You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away
*******************************
Let’s see, I’ve listed 46 songs total. I’ll think in the days ahead about seeing if I can force myself to winnow it down to 10.
