Hey guys
I know there’s a few posts similar to this, but not one exactly like it
I was thinking, what are the most beautiful Beatles songs. I thought about it after hearing Good Night on the radio and thinking. Wow is that beautiful. So, I compiled a list. Here’s what I got.
- Good Night – Just pure beauty. Lovely orchestration, and a great way to close a great album!
- She’s Leaving Home – Great song. The chords are a gem and the cellos and double bass at the start of the first verse are great!
- In My Life – Very melancholic, and very deep. Lovely!
- Here Comes The Sun – Song don’t need to be sad to be beautiful! Another classic yet lovely piece.
- Golden Slumbers – I remember first hearing this and thinking “Wow, how does Paul do that, it’s lovely”
- Across The Universe – A lovely lovely song on a somewhat bitter album. I love it!
- Blackbird – A little gem. The softness of Paul’s voice is what makes it for me!
- You Never Give Me Your Money – I love this one.a delicate touch in the middle of a great album.
- Here, There And Everywhere – You can tell it is inspired by The Beach Boys ! A lovely little masterpiece.
- The Fool On The Hill – A great piece in the middle of what is quite a crazy and upbeat album.
- Nowhere Man – The first Beatles song not about love, and it shows. It’s great!
- This Boy – One of the earlier “beautiful songs”, Still makes it great!
- Julia – John really did well on this one. I love it!
- All My Loving – Some people may disagree, but it has a tinge about it which is great, and slightly somber. Fab!
- Long, Long, Long – When people say Beautiful Beatles songs, this one instantly pops into mind. A great song!
I know it;s a bit long but there are so many beautiful songs out there. It just goes to show that The Beatles weren’t just about Psychedelic Madness or Capturing Girls’ hearts. The eagle eyed among you will notice a lot of them are from the White Album . Coincidence? What do you think? What’s in your list?

I agree with all of these. Good to see some love for Good Night . I would add a couple.
“is a warm gun yeah” at the end of Happiness Is A Warm Gun is truly beautiful.
The falsetto swoop at the end of Sexy Sadie
The End , when the song finishes right after the final phrase.
"The pump don't work cause the vandals took the handles!"
-Bob Dylan, Subterranean Homesick Blues
"We could ride and surf together while our love would grow"
-Brian Wilson, Surfer Girl

What a great post and I totally agree on, let me check, yes, on actually every song you named @crazyyorkshireman!
Across The Universe , Here Comes The Sun , and While My Guitar Gently Weeps are probably some of the most beautiful songs of all time IMO (which doesn’t mean any of them is my absolute favourite song though).
A few songs on top of my head that would be on my list additionally:
It’s Only Love : The fairy-like rhythm guitar and John’s resigned and at the same time longing vocals make this song so touching for me. And of course the last ‘yooooouuuuu’ is a truly beautiful moment.
While My Guitar Gently Weeps : Although it’s probably obvious: I find the solos really beautiful. But I mean it, it’s like sunshine and friendship and love and the smell of flowers and green leaves combined in one piece of music, I can’t even express what I feel when I hear it – for a few seconds I always forget that there are evil things on this planet. But that’s not the only beautiful aspect of this song, George’s vocals sound so heartbroken and the moans at the end reach for the innermost part of the human soul. Yes, this song can only be described as ‘beautiful’.
I’ll Follow The Sun : The lyrics and Paul’s mellow voice make this song really great.
The Inner Light : I have a weak spot for a) George’s voice and b) his Indian style music anyway, but this song is just incredible. George sounds really enlightened in this song, detached to anything material. His singing provides tranquillity, peace, and strength. Additionally, the flute part is very pretty.
Dear Prudence : The soft and bright guitar at the beginning is one of the most beautiful intros to a song ever, it sounds so soft and gentle.
If I Fell : A real gem on AHDN , the harmony vocals are so, so good!

crazyyorkshireman, ewe2Not once does the diversity seem forced -- the genius of the record is how the vaudevillian "When I'm 64" seems like a logical extension of "Within You Without You" and how it provides a gateway to the chiming guitars of "Lovely Rita. - Stephen T. Erlewine on Sgt Pepper's

I adore Good Night . The song has a very tranquil and dreamy atmosphere. I also must bring up It’s Only Love again. Wonderful.

Ooh yeah! Dear Prudence . How could I miss that?!
Wmggw is another great one. Some people wouldn’t go as far to say it’s beautiful in this respect, but I certainly would! I’m sure they’d change their mind when they heard the Anthology acoustic version!
It’s Only Love again, why did I miss it off ha ha! Another slightly earlier beautiful one. There’s a real sense of power too when he goes into the chorus with “It’s Only Love , and that is all” Which is lovely compared to the softer verse.
i would maybe add You’re Going To Lose That Girl too. It’s not exactly tranquil like good night or Julia , but it’s get a gentle touch on it which I think is brilliant! Even if George’s backing vocals were slightly out of tune!

No mention of Because yet; possibly their most sumptuous display of their three-part harmonies.

Let It Be . The solemn piano and the lightning strike guitar solo are stunning.
Something . The lyrics, the melody, the guitar solo. The bridge is my favourite part with that string section.
Across The Universe – Beautiful lyrically, not quite so much musically, but the guitar intro is lovely.
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

You mean nine part harmonies.

There may be nine voices, but it’s three sets of three-part harmony. The first recorded on the 1 August 1969, with the second two recorded on the 4 August.

I’ve never cared for ‘Because ‘. The toilet break of side 2 for me.
Its inclusion on ‘Anthology 3 ‘ with only the vocals was a waste of space, surely something of more interest lay in the vaults.

I love listening to the isolated vocals. I used to think that Because was an uncreative and dreary waste of time, but then I was listening to it high one day and I changed my mind. It is a beautiful song.
Although a cover, Anna (Go With Him) is a really beautiful and touching performance. I also love the harmony on Ask Me Why .
