As I discovered The Beatles just a few months ago; I’ve used a great many online resources to gather intel on what songs to get ( This site is amazing but the 2nd best resource seems to be the inevitably flawed Rolling Stones 100 list)
I’m only 22 and so have limited financial means; at this stage I can’t buy the entire repertoire ( as much as I want to!).
I’ve been using iTunes to get the best material and buying up the albums slowly with Sgt Pepper , Abbey Rd, Revolver and 1 in the bag, together with a good portion of Rubber Soul ( which I’ll complete asap) and the better parts of the White Album . Aside from this, I have high profile songs from the other albums.
I sure this is an issue for many new/young fans who have to navigate entire captivating songbook.
I wonder if anyone could suggest the best songs to add to core, more renowned music I’ve listed and that many of us youngsters/newbies start with. How do we expand?
Many thanks.
P.S. Its great to be here!

Personally i’d recommend buying a complete album at a time rather than getting 3 or 4 songs from 3 or 4 albums at a time – gives you the feel and context of the whole album song by song instead of being individual entities entirely on their own.
But thats not what you asked.
Standout songs from albums is normally subjective depending on the person however i’d say the following are the one generally highlighted as the standouts (so not personal favourites).
Please Please Me : I Saw Her Standing There , Please Please Me , Twist And Shout
With The Beatles : It Wont Be Long, All My Loving , You Really Got A Hold On Me , Not A Second Time , Money (That’s What I Want)
A Hard Days Night: I Should Have Known Better , If I Fell , And I Love Her , I’ll Be Back
Beatles For Sale : No Reply , I’m A Loser , I Don’t Want To Spoil The Party
Help !: You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away , You’ve Going To Lose That Girl, I Just Saw A Face
Magical Mystery Tour : The Fool On The Hill , I Am The Walrus , Strawberry Fields Forever
Let It Be : Two of Us, Across The Universe (Spector mix*), I’ve Got A Feeling
Past Masters : This Boy , Long Tall Sally , Yes It Is , Rain , Revolution , Don’t Let Me Down , Old Brown Shoe , Across The Universe (Wild Life mix*)
*Different mixes of the same recording. What version is better is down to opinion: Spectors is slower with orchestra and choir, the Wild Life mix is faster with sound effects (birds) and female backing vocals.

This. In addition…
It sounds like you have a pretty solid collection so far. It seems like you’re concentrating on their later, more psychedelic, stuff. That’s pretty much what I did when I started out. I’d suggest collecting Magical Mystery Tour . It’s a mostly great batch of songs from the Sgt Pepper ‘s era. You might want to look up the singles included on 1, and maybe pick up the b-sides to those singles as a starting point if you’re not going the album-at-a-time route. A lot of great stuff is on the Past Masters albums if you don’t already have those songs (they include different versions of some songs, as mmm said). The Live At The BBC albums are great, but not a priority if you don’t have their other albums first.
At any rate, it’s all subjective and everyone here is likely to give a slightly different answer.

Wonderful!Thank you both so much
I feel that I should be paying a consultation fee!
Beatles music should be freely discovered (outside of having to buy it of course).

Wow! Finance Minister mmm not suggesting that you send him your bank routing number, or at least a Curly Wurly or bottle of Irn-Bru, is a big step for him . We’re all proud of you, mmm.

A Hard Day’s Night , I Feel Fine & Yesterday are all on 1 which the OP owns so no point in highlighting them again. I Need You is generally seen as a good but not great album track as is I Me Mine (two songs i do love and find to be highlights of their respective albums and of George’s Beatle offerings) and i tried to stay away from personal opinion. If i had went down that route i’d have also added tracks like Anna (Go To Him) & Baby’s In Black but then every track ends up being mentioned.

Newbies of Beatles music should be made known of the greatness of it for free as its so damn good. You have to show some generosity and goodness at times – even Apple did that with On Air – Live At The BBC by doing it properly. And like Apple resorting to type with the US Box i’ll be back to my moaning, groaning and fee suggesting in the very near future.
Will also add that it really should be sugar-free irn bru in a glass bottle.

Do I dare?
Or perhaps this combo?
Both of those are plastic bottles, glass bottles are always 750ml (and you normally get 30p back when you return the bottle – us Scots are careful with our cash).
The generally agreed order of greatness when Irn Bru drinking is (first to last) glass bottle > can > plastic bottle. The difference is incredible when being consumed; a good chippy and an ice cold glass bottle of irn bru (drunk straight out of the bottle) is one of the greatest delicacies ever known to man. Right up there with a proper roll and square sausage with sauce and good cup of tea.
I wonder if this is the furthest you can get off topic.

Oh, dear me, I didn’t notice that 1 belonged to the list of owned albums.
Nonetheless, you provided a wonderful list.

I made a mistake. The Beatles never recorded “I Just Saw A Face”, never mind released it on Help !, they did however record a song called ‘I’ve Just Seen A Face ‘ which was on Help !. Will go and sit on the naughty step and think about what i did.

I just vacated that step after forgetting that “She said she’d always been a dancer, she twerked at 15 clubs a day”… was a Beatles line. This can be our official time out location. I like this form of punishment better than the paddle ASJ pulled out on me the other day
