I nominate Twist And Shout – in the early years this always meant Beatles to me.

Considering how The Beatles operated maybe it would be more apt to have one song for each Beatle but then which song for which Beatle?
Personally i’d say…
Oh heck, i tried, got to John and had about 4 options, moved on to Paul, got stuck. Thought George would be easier, nope. Ringo, well there is 2 but i’d say Yellow Submarine .

Does Paul have one?
Maybe Mull Of Kintyre or Band On The Run !?
Paul would probably be okay with… (drumroll)… “Silly Love Songs” as his signature tune. He’d plead “What’s wrong with that? I’d like to know”…

Wow. That is a damned HARD question. I’m tempted to just say all of them. The Beatles are one of the very few bands who, when hearing a song for the first time, even before the vocal started, you KNEW it was them. No matter what style of song it was….nobody sounded like them, hard as some tried….they’re ALL signature songs, IMHO. Hope that didn’t come off TOO cheesy.
....ya won't be interferin' wit the basic rugged concept o' me personality would ya madam?

But that being said, it’s quite obviously “Mr. Moonlight”.
I had to listen to this for a few seconds today and it was awful.
"Please don't bring your banjo back, I know where it's been.. I wasn't hardly gone a day, when it became the scene.. Banjos! Banjos! All the time, I can't forget that tune.. and if I ever see another banjo, I'm going out and buy a big balloon!"

No, not cheesy at all. You may have read that I am new to this Beatles party. I didn’t listen to rock music growing up. I’ve started listening to 60s on 6 on XM radio. The Beatles just stand out from all the other music I hear on there. Their music sounds so much “fuller.” I’ll figure out some better adjectives to use as time goes by.

It’s harder to think of a signature tune for bands with so many hits……..Beach Boys for instance………’Good Vibrations’ maybe but ‘God only Knows’ !!!
For people of ‘My Generation’……….’WHO’ grew up with each Beatle single as a ‘NEW’ release it is probably ‘She Loves You ‘ For some later born fans ‘Hey Jude ‘ makes perfect sense.
It’s a good question and interesting topic……….But unanswerable and going…… Nowhere Man !!

I think it also depends on where you are in the world. I can imagine some songs are more well known in certain parts of the world than in other.
Anyway, I can’t really choose one, so I’ll say: Hey Jude , Yesterday , Let it be, She loves you, All You Need Is Love , I Want To Hold Your Hand and maybe even Yellow Submarine . I think most people know these songs.

Hmm..I would say Something , but I never hear people talk about that one. Also, I’m extremely biased, as I’ve practically been raised on the Beatles music.

Right now I am reading a book titled “Songwriters On Songwriting,” by Paul Zollo. Last night I happened to read his interview with Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys . Amazingly, Brian states that the one song he thinks the Beach Boys will be remembered for many years from now (therefore, their “signature song”) will be… “Surfer Girl.” Really? God Only Knows why he picked that tune. The talk took place in 1988, and the interviewer does point out that Brian was still not fully recovered from his bout with mental illness. Wouldn’t It Be Nice to know that he has now fully recovered?
Atlas, I Want To Tell You that I know What You’re Doing ; You Act Naturally , all the while sneaking song titles in your posts Here, There And Everywhere . Well, I like it and I Will keep checking your posts out.
