I guess I should treat you all to a new batch of results!
188 (140*, 5.6) I’ll Cry Instead
187 (143*, 5.72) You Like Me Too Much
=184 (144*, 5.76) Devil In Her Heart
=184 (144*, 5.76) Don’t Pass Me By
=184 (144*, 5.76) When I Get Home
=182 (146*, 5.84) You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)
=182 (146*, 5.84) Dig A Pony
181 (147*, 5.88) Till There Was You
180 (153, 5.89) Flying
179 (148*, 5.92) I Wanna Be Your Man
In this are 4 songs I actively disagree with being so low. I’ll Cry Instead and Flying are great songs, but When I Get Home and I Wanna Be Your Man are probably in my top 20, and I’m very disappointed with them coming so low. I’m hardly surprised at YKMNLUTN, Dig A Pony and Devil In Her Heart being low, they seem to get a fair bit of hate. 12 tens were given, 4 to one song, and 4 other songs received 2 tens.
From here, the votes start getting a bit closer together.

I like seeing the covers come up low. Most often if I see a cover ranked above an original that isn’t Anna or Long Tall Sally I tend to disagree. So Till There Was You and Devil In Her(His) Heart are fine with me being low.

This batch of songs has some songs I really like in it actually. I love I’ll Cry Instead , I Wanna Be Your Man and Dig A Pony . I also like You Know My Name (Look Up The Number) but I am not surprised to see that song so low as it isn’t for everybody.
And in the end the lunch you take is equal to the lunch you bake.

It’s criminal that it is so low but I think it suffers a similar fate as Revolution #9 as they aren’t everyone’s cup of tea.

It’s not possible to do it here as you can’t re-order the information at will but it would be interesting to be compare where each song ranks in each of the three polls and see if there are any major moves in position or totals.

I love “You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)”! That jazzy riff alone on “Dig A Pony ” should rate it higher, though I prefer the rooftop version in Let It Be the film with George’s and Paul’s vocals leading into John’s intro vocal. I’ve got no time for trivialities, but “When I Get Home ” is a little low too.

Sorry for the delay everyone, I’ve been a bit busy. Some more results guaranteed to turn heads:
=177 (149*, 5.96) Baby It’s You
=177 (149*, 5.96) I Don’t Want To Spoil The Party
=172 (150*, 6) Yes It Is
=172 (150*, 6) Baby’s In Black
=172 (150*, 6) All Together Now
=172 (150*, 6) Words Of Love
=172 (150*, 6) Run For Your Life
171 (151*, 6.04) Money (That’s What I Want)
=169 (152*, 6.08) Wait
=169 (152*, 6.08) Another Girl
I don’t with any of these songs being here. All Together Now , Yes It Is and Baby’s In Black all got 1s from me, and Words Of Love and Baby It’s You all shouldn’t be this high either. And then I Don’t Want To Spoil The Party , Run For Your Life , Money, Wait and Another Girl all deserve to at least be in the top 100, I would have thought. 11 tens were given, 2 to one song, and 3 to another song.

‘Run For Your Life ‘ gets marked down automatically because John sings about seeing her being dead and people don’t like John signing about seeing her being dead.
I always feel ‘Money’ is let down by the backing vocals.

Run For Your Life is a good song tbh. It’s like one of those horror novels.

Definitely agree with Wait ‘s position,a very weak Paul song. It doesn’t add anything unique or interesting to the Beatles’ catalogue.
I wish All Together Now was higher, (I had given it a 10 if I recall.) Even if for the lack of quality, it showed the Beatles in a happier care-free light. (As it being a children’s song, more so than Yellow Submarine .)
I am you as you are you as you are you and you are all together.

Not too much surprised about this last set of songs except, maybe, for Run For Your Life which is my fav song from Rubber Soul .
Very much surprised about Ask me why and I Call Your Name being so so low…

Whattttt!? “Wait ” is so awesome! The harmonies are great; I love it when the tambourine comes in, then the maracas and the syncopated drums. And then that tremelo-like volume pedal guitar that leads into and builds behind Paul’s honey-drenched vocal during the break. It’s such a great mood piece without venturing into overindulgence — I just adore it
“Words Of Love ” and “Baby It’s You ” are two of their better covers and could be a tad higher, along with “All Together Now .” “Yes It Is ” is a much improved version of “Baby’s In Black ,” which is one of the most garbage of Beatles originals. I grew up hearing Barrett Strong’s “Money” and the Beatles’ version leaves me totally flat. “Another Girl ” is a cool song, kind of a bluesy folky rockabilly song and has such an aloof attitude and those nice talking guitar licks, deserves to be ranked higher. I like the lyrics (w/assist from Elvis) of “Run For Your Life ,” but musically it feels like another rehash of the type of rockabilly song that the boys had done so many times by this point, and they had already been infusing their rockabilly songs with new sounds to the point where “Run For Your Life ” feels like a step backward. It just feels lazy, though the harmonies save it from being worse. The harmonies on “I Don’t Want To Spoil The Party ” elevate it above some of their other country styled songs, it has a nice Everlys sound, and a pretty bridge. I suppose I had this entire set ranked differently than the poll results.

Baby’s In Black… GARBAGE!?!? Absurd claim @SpecialCup. After reading your defense of Wait , I thanked for post, but now I regret it! It is one of their most beautifully tragic early songs. As it I Don’t Want To Spoil The Party. Both work perfectly in the context of Beatles For Sale , and are too low on the list.

I agree with SpecialCup. Even if they did record it first for BFS, and really liked it, it sounds so forced, like they weren’t having fun (though they were). The melody is, IMO, fairly awful. But, each to their own, and this is why these polls generally cause surprises.

Sir Walt, I had a feeling I was going to irreparably burn bridges on this forum when I wrote that, but like J. Lennon I have no impulse control and just couldn’t stop meself! Try to see it my way: “Baby’s In Black ” just sounds so hokey to me compared to other stuff they were doing at this time. It strikes a rare misfire to me, like they wanted to do a song in a different time signature, but they fell into some gimmicky songwriting trap while doing it. The Beatles had such an intuitive feel for songwriting, arrangement and performance, but this just doesn’t have that elegant feel to me, rather clunky. The lyrics sound amateurish, like something I would’ve written at age 11, sorry!
Oh dear, what can I do to Get Back into your good graces after all this? We Can Work It Out !
