Also, @The Hole Got Fixed WMMG mediocre? I’ll fight you m8!
Fight accepted. I wouldn’t even place WMGGW in my top 150 Beatles songs (and I’ve fact checked that too).

I honestly thought A Day In The Life or Strawberry Fields Forever would take the top spot. I definitely thought I Am The Walrus would be up there but I didn’t expect it to be number one.
I don’t think anyone could honestly say that While My Guitar Gently Weeps is a mediocre song. You may not like it but it certainly isn’t mediocre.
One thing that has surprised me about this list is that a lot of Paul’s songs ranked so low.
And in the end the lunch you take is equal to the lunch you bake.

I’m going to assume that appreciation for I Am The Walrus has grown through the years, maturing like a fine wine. As much as I love Strawberry Fields, it’s a lucky fluke compared to the deliberate invention on Walrus and it deserves its place in the sun, especially given that between the three, Fields and A Day In The Life are always near the top, and it’s just nice to see something else share the spotlight for a change. Same goes for The Medley, recognised as an artistic achievement but rarely cracking top 10’s. Downrating WMGGW is incorrectthat’s all I’ll say about that.

I can’t see how WMGGW is a good song – it goes on for way too long, George (at least to me) sounds like he is forcing the singing a bit and almost sounding bored as a result, the mixing does my head in, and while I can appreciate Clapton’s solo, I don’t particularly think it’s a great solo. The song just doesn’t do anything for me.

I can see why I Am The Walrus was number one. I rank it very highly…it’s so distinctive in terms of melody and lyrics. Very, very memorable, and sometimes I prefer it to Strawberry Fields. I like WMGGW, but would agree it’s probably ranked too high. Only because I think other songs are better. But that’s okay.
And indeed, the Abbey Road medley is unbelievable. I remember listening to it for the first time and instantly telling my friends about it. I knew it was nearly 50 years old already, but it was such a revelation to me. The perfect ending to the band…even more than A Day In The Life . And that’s saying something.

I think George sounding like he is forcing the singing is just his natural singing voice.

It’s apparent to me that George is deliberately performing the song that way, emphasising the words in a way that he appears anguished. Like John on I’m So Tired. I like it.

He’s got this way of singing that’s so strange, yet so beautiful. His breath support and note sustainability through phrases is insane. Perhaps its his double tracked vocals.

Yep. I’m on a George fix at the moment, more than usual.
May be an unpopular opinion but I enjoy Love’s version of WMGGW, even though I obviously prefer the original.

I am happy with the way the list turned out but just surprised at the low rankings for some of his biggest songs.

Paul deserves the most credit for The Medley. It had a great showing.

Surprising that Paul’s best solo track (so not including the medley or ‘ADITL’ which is very much a joint collaboration with John) is ‘Helter Skelter ‘ at #13. John owns the top 10.
Let’s start an in-depth John v Paul, who is better, heated debate.

Lol I don’t think that “Little Child ” is worse than “Wild Honey Pie .” I despise “Wild Honey Pie “. Seriously why did that song have to exist. But “Revolution 9 ” is a masterpiece even though it’s not my favorite.

On its own, yes, its annoying and confusing. Within the context of the album, it works great for the same reasons Revolution 9 does. For me, basically any example of the band flexing their creative muscles is a big plus, and this is a often overlooked example of them doing that by pushing the album format to its limits.

SgtPeppersBulldogI've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.
