Hi everyone, just found this wonderful site today whilst surfing as you do. Just too late to vote in the survey, damn! How does anyone pick a fave track? so hard but my choice today is Get Back .Is there a survey for most disliked song? there’s a few i’m not too keen on, Hey Jude is one, cut it in half & it would be O.K. Will be checking out the various topics over the next couple of hours.
Nice to meet you.
I feel the same about Hey Jude !

I was wondering if anyone would like a 2017 poll? If enough people support the idea, I’ll cobble together a google form rather similar (but not identical) to the 2015 poll, and voting would commence on or not long after January 1st.
Just throwing the idea out there, anyhow!

The non-cannon poll was due to be held this year but, for various reasons, especially my health, it didn’t get Off The Ground .
It is, more-or-less, ready to go, and I was planning to unveil shortly after the glut of the New Year.
I believe it would have been at least polite to consult those who were behind this poll thread, both still active on the forum, what their plans for the thread are…

Sorry @Ron Nasty, I actually didn’t know there was going to be a poll for this year (note to self: do more research next time). If you wish to go ahead with your poll, please feel free to do so, as you’ve had yours ready for a while. Sorry again.

Prior to post from @The Hole Got Fixed on 15 December 2016 at 8.28pm, there had not been any activity in this thread for nearly 17 months. Additionally, he was more than polite in his offer to move forward. No harm, no foul.

So should I make the poll or not? I don’t mind, but if RN doesn’t want to do his I should start making the poll ready for next year (which is not even two weeks away).
And thanks for backing me up, @Zig!

At this point, I say we leave it in the hands of RN and/or Starr Shine?. They did a great job with the last one and I see no reason to change course. Thanks for volunteering though.

We can re-do the cannon in 2018, @The Hole Got Fixed. It will give people a reason to stick around, be active, and recruit others (if possible).

I would like to make clear that I wasn’t saying @The Hole Got Fixed did anything wrong, merely that it would have been polite to approach those involved in the most recent poll.
I remember, after all, the “End of Year” poll not taking place the year I joined because the forum member who’d created it was no longer around, and then weeks of discussion the following year when it was suggested it be brought back to life.
And the creation, and timing of the poll this thread was created, was not without its problems due to the problems with the previous poll. I did not say it was wrong or out-of-order not to contact myself or @Starr Shine? to ask of any plans in the pipeline, but merely suggested I thought it would have been polite.
I agree with @Zig, “No harm, no foul”, but it doesn’t change my point of view that it would have been polite, and I appreciate your comments hgf (hole got fixed).
There had been no activity in this thread in 17 months because this thread was abandoned 17 months ago for the results and discussion thread.
Unfortunately, though I should have been building up to launch the non-canon poll about this time last year, I had other things to deal with as is well known. I’ve got close a couple of times to launching the list, and then health has thwacked me on the butt again.
Then @Joe gave me something else to think about when AG and I met up with him and Ellie in *******, while we talking at the castle. He asked whether I was including YT and other links to the songs where possible as this part of the catalogue includes many items people might be less familiar with. A valid point, I thought, beginning to search video sites to see what I could find and starting to log links.
This has been the more difficult list to create and group.
I didn’t want to do the a-z+ again, but not a straight chronology, as that also looked wrong.
I’m thinking I now have it about right, listed in a way that makes sense.
By the end of the first week of January, the list will go up for consultation, just to check nothing obvious or, even better, unobvious, has slipped through the cracks. During that period of consultation, I am hopeful SS? will put together the voting facilities.
You know me, I don’t like to over-promise. Lessons learnt last time are being remembered.
Before going live, after people have had a good look at the list, and had the chance to raise any issues, opinion will be asked for on length of voting period.
No announcement will be made about the reveal period until the results are collated after end of voting.
The reveal period caused much friction last time, and those able to remember that it was only settled after SS? and I had had a few days with the results to work out a sensible breakdown for the reveal. There was a big difference between the first timetable I said would be met, and the natural timetable the break-up of the results involved.
And so… coming soon… in January 2017… after we’ve stopped jabbering about the “End of Year Poll” awards other people won…

LOL! @meanmistermustard!
It’s an easy reply this time. “It ain’t on the canon list we voted on.”
Only one slightly contentious inclusion, in that it’s bootleg only (I think – I’m still scouring European grey market releases in case).
Also some that surprise, and one foreign Apple single I think will surprise many.
I am looking forward to this…

Not probably the time or place but when you say “bootleg” does that mean everything available on bootleg and if so are we going to be voting on all the different takes/performances/mixes of songs and every second of the ‘Get Back ‘ January 1969 sessions? Not sure I have the energy to differentiate between the 876,486 run-thru’s of ‘The Long And Winding Road ‘, nor the time, patience or desire.

No, merely one song out of a set of fifteen, @meanmistermustard. I can point to 14 of them getting official and/or grey market release.
It seems wrong to leave out the 15th.
But everything bar that one will be official/legal grey market.

As far as cannon songs go, I usually just go with everything on the 2009 remasters minus the George Martin tracks on YS and plus FAAB and RL.
