You can safely unspoil inside my post and you will only see one line which was the second half of an unrelated comment and will not spoil her opinion of the results – I’m just using it as one (to The End ‘s untimely demise!).

My thoughts exactly!
You know what might be interesting is to take our top 50, or 100, and subject them to another poll, but do something to eliminate ties and spread them out. The only way I can think to do that would be to make everyone vote more than once (at least thrice), without referring to prior submissions, thus virtually guaranteeing (at least it would in my case) they will be slightly different..I dunno, it’s too late to figure out if it’s logical, but it sounds good lol.

Well, it is my great pleasure to reveal the Top 3 today, just not their order !!!!!!!!!!
006 (348) Abbey Road Medley
005 (349) While My Guitar Gently Weeps
004 (353) In My Life
When I decided to include the Medley as a whole, I always believed it would come in high and so it has proved. WMGGW is probably my favourite George, but not the forum’s. Very pleased to see IML so high. As some may know it’s one of my particular favourites. A remarkable song in every way.
And so the Top 3 are…
Annadog40 will reveal the final three positions on the 30th.

Interesting. Certainly the Abbey Road medley is too long to include in my top 30 playlist. What to do?

I was getting into thinking that the AR medley would be coming in at number 1, actually pleased to see its not in the top 5 considering its a number of tracks woven together and not just one (tho you could argue that ‘ADITL’ is two separate pieces woven together).
Great to see ‘In My Life ‘ at #4.

Wow, getting so close to #1! Which will it be? I’m tortured!
I’m surprised that Here Comes The Sun came in higher than Something . I’m happy to see it personally. Something is a wonderful song of course, but I can’t even say it would make my Top 10. HCTS, however, is my favorite of George’s and I’d be happy to see it as #3.
Though I keep going back and forth, I hope A Day In The Life gets #2 and SFF #1. Both are incredible, amazing songs but if I had to pick, SFF wins for me. It was the first Beatles song I heard as a young man – it blew my mind, and more than any other song is the reason I’m a fan today.

I hope it is A Day In The Life – a perfect mixture of John and Paul.

I could see SFF & HCtS being tied though. ADitL is just a different beast. Nothing can match the orchestral apocalypse.

I think Ron said no ties in the top tunes? Could be wrong though – often am 🙂

I did indeed. Three songs left, three positions left. The final tie was #12.

With respect to “In My Life ” I think it was John who said that Paul helped with the middle eight. Paul countered with the argument that the song has no middle eight and that in fact the melody was basically his. (Or is this kinda what you meant?)
I can’t help but wonder what our ranking would have looked like if all 4 Beatles were still around – or if they’d all disappeared in 1980.

What are you even expecting? A Day In The Life will most definitely be first. Probably the best bit they ever made. It may not be as “likable” and “catchy” or something, like, say, Here Comes The Sun , but its impact is huge. Huge result for a huge song by a huge band, maybe not their peak but definitely one of the peaks.
I just wish HCTS was second, as much as I absolutely love SSF I prefer the humble one this time.

Am I the only person that’s actually started to feel sorry for Paul?
However idiosyncratic it may possibly be this is a certainly a poll of Beatle scholars…. I guess if Paul pays any attention at all to it and he considers it as being indicative of his likely legacy it will push him to greater efforts to get the record straight…….
There are only a few dozen songs where he would need to clear up any doubts over his contribution. He should sit down toe-to-toe with Joe.
