Martha was one of my 10’s…….It’s such a happy ….bounce along. With something from the other three incorporated into it it would have made a good Penny Lane /Hello bye…….type single.
Just looked through this race to the top…….8 of my horses, (my 10’s) have fallen….Yes it is falling first….I thought it would’ve almost gone the distance. I demand a steward’s inquiry.

with I’m Down and One After 909 ! ID is such a good screamer; I’ve loved it ever since I was a kid. One whole summer, it was my theme song. And OA909 is a rooftopper! Have you people no shame?

Again, I don’t think any of these songs can be called “hated on.” We’re into the top half, and the average score of #129 was was over 6.5. I think I scored 62 songs 7 and above, and about 10 of those are gone. None of my top 17 are gone, but…
=124 (260)
Mean Mr Mustard – finally some individual “medley” songs – still bet the entirety makes the top two scores (however many songs tie for the top 2 scores).
=117 (263) The Ballad Of John And Yoko – Both of these made my top 40, but I can understand why they landed where they did
One After 909
=115 (264) From Me To You – was a top 50 for me
=113 (265)
Mother Nature’s Son – top 50
=106 (269) Good Morning Good Morning – another top 40
The rest, eh…except thinking the few listed below that should be here (actually higher) instead, I am ok with them.
Like Zig, still no tops missing (top 17 for me, the 10s I gave out…I know I said I gave 23 10s before, I must have miscounted…). The top 40s I’ve lost are All Together Now , From Me To You , and The Ballad Of John And Yoko . At least I think that’s all I’ve lost from the highest few scores…oh Don’t Pass Me By was around 40.
One good thing that’s come out of this poll, which AG alluded to earlier, is wondering how my votes will change next year and watching them change when one of us makes a good comment. After seeing the discussion here, I’d go back and change a bunch of my votes today.
The excitement builds as we enter the top 100 and the songs that averaged 7+.

It Won’t Be Long and This Boy should not poll that high, not compared to a dozen songs below them. I’m also surprised Good Day Sunshine and Michelle rated that high given the sense of hatred I get about them here.

Another 2 of my horses have stumbled…….This Boy and Michelle ……Only 48 left!!
You know I was thinking about how my perceived generosity in awarding 58, ’10’s’ is being held up as the reason for some sort of skewing of the results……I don’t see how they can.
If we were talking modal averages…..Like say in a shoe shop……..And I come along and say….Right we’re buying in new shoes and I’m getting 58 pars of size 14’s but only 32 size 9s…..It would have a direct effect……..The most popular size would be under represented and a very uncommon size over represented.
But we are not talking about how many votes were in blocks of ten…. but how many votes cast per song overall…..
Maybe some maths, (we say maths with an ‘s’ in the UK), expert can say one way or another.
Anyway……!

I think what matters is that folk vote in accordance with their own selves, what that does to the results is neither here nor there. If you want to give 76 10’s and the rest 9’s then who is anyone to say no, thats not right.
As for the results. How the hell is ‘This Boy ‘ at #90!! My first of the results.
Off ‘Beatles For Sale ‘ we’ve lost all the covers, ‘What You’re Doing ‘, ‘I Don’t Want To Spoil’, ‘I’ll Follow The Sun ”, ‘Baby’ In Black’, ‘I’m A Loser ‘ and ‘Every Little Thing ‘. So its between ‘Eight Days A Week ‘ or ‘No Reply ‘ for top spot. Exciting to see if its ‘No Reply ‘, i do hope it is!!
Just noticed ‘Within You, Without You’ as well. Deep breaths.

Someone, probably @Beatlebug, had recently been discussing If I Needed Someone , which caused it to stick in my head and remind me of what a sweet little song it is. A prime example of that fertile and creative time that perhaps gets overlooked because of all the excellence surrounding it. It deserved a higher ranking.
