McCartney’s funkadelick “Write Away” from the Press To Play era (but not on the original album. Should have been!!!). Only heard it for the first time this year.
Hearing Lennon’s “Borrowed Time” for the first time today (from the posthumous Milk And Honey album).
Both are good!!!

Since I have lots of catching up to do with Beatles songs, I can’t believe that I just discovered Taxman , Hey Bulldog , and Blackbird . All three are amazing songs that I definitely wish I could’ve listened to sooner!

Nothing recently, but I hadn’t heard a number of the tracks on the first Anthology in any shape or form before, same for the first BBC compilation (except I would have heard some at the time of broadcast).

Um…. does Traveling Wilburys count? George is in it 😀
Because ‘Handle With Care‘ came on mum’s Pandora yesterday, but she skipped it before I could hear much more than the first seconds (I recognised George’s distinctively Harrisonic lead vocal immediately, of course)… so I promised myself I’d look it up and I did and I like it very much.
George!

I predict that we shall hear these songs, either together or separately, flanked by Hey Bulldog in the not too distant future.

I just got around to listening to last week’s show. I see you’ve already fit Write Away into a theme. (Derail: Ohhh Boy loves the Bee Gees. We went to LA to the Barry Gibb concert in the Hollywood Bowl last year.)

Been looking up a load more of Beatles song (specifically from Rubber Soul , With The Beatles and Abbey Road ) I’ve been totally obsessed with Michelle . Though, I’m still trying to figure out the French part, at least I know one word, which I guess would be considered progress…
Also I’ve been just discovering Julia , Money (That’s What I Want), I Feel Fine , Because , and Mean Mr Mustard , which I really quite enjoy 😀

They translate it in the song. “These are words that go together well”

Thanks for the updates @natureaker. It’s exciting to remember what it was like to hear The Beatles songs for the first time. I think it’s cool that you are moving through the catalog in random order at a nice slow pace 🙂

“Michelle ” is a great song. If you look at the canon thread and the song’s ranking and comments, you’ll find that there isn’t much love for that song on this forum. Can’t quite figure it out except for the fact that it’s got the feel of an old-fashioned song. But I love the guitar progressions.

Agree with all that…….
It was Paul’s ‘Haw hee haw’ Maurice Chevalier floppy botterm lipped French smoothy…… party song. I think John helped with the I Love/need/want you x3…Which if I’m right adds a touch of drama the song needed.
What a great pair they were.
And I’ve just discovered after checking on the John contribution which is correct…….That George Martin composed the beautifully suited guitar solo for George to play…….Which he manages superrrbly……
The Beatles and producer effortlessly knocking out another minor classic.

I’ve actually heard new Beatles songs in 2 separate dreams. Both times I remember thinking, Damn, this is really good. Why didn’t they release this?? They both had that jangling sound somewhere between HDN and HELP. I wish I’d had the sense to write them down!
On THIS plane, I was in a little pub a few yrs back with my young Irish buddy. Somebody played Working Class Hero and I Found Out , by John. Well he was just blown outta the water. Jeezus, he said, I f-ckin LOVE this, who IS this? He kept raving about this singer….Well, truth be told, he had to get verification from 2 other people before he believed me that it was Ole Johnnie Rhythm!
No matter how old the music, if you haven’t heard it before, it’s a brand new song!
