I get misty-eyed over “In My Life .”
But the only song that ever literally sent shivers up and down my spine is “A Day In The Life .” Still does, after decades of listenings.
And, yeah, I cried when I got the news of John Lennon 's death. I was living in Miami. Got up to go to work, turned on the local rock station. They were playing a Beatles song. Then another. “Cool,” I thought. That wasn't the norm. Then came another. Then the DJ came on and said that they were playing Beatles and Lennon all day because John had been shot and killed the night before. I couldn't believe it. I sat down on the bed and stared at nothing for awhile. Then I got in my car and cried all the way to work. I'm teary-eyed right now, just thinking back on it.
The Beatles have been the sound track of my life ever since I watched them explode on the Ed Sullivan Show. I felt like I had lost a family member.

In my life, The Long And Winding Road , Beautiful Boy, God , Jealous Guy , It's all too much, Woman , Fading in and Fading out, If I Fell , Octopus's Garden (just makes me kind of sad, but I don't cry), This Boy , Golden Slumbers , The End , Yes it Is, etc. etc. I have a lot… Just thinking about John or George makes me cry, as a matter of fact, thinking about any of them makes me cry…

Wow… I can't imagine “I'm Down” making anyone cry, at least on its own.
Usually when a song (or movie, or book, or…) makes me cry, it doesn't make me cry every single time I listen to (watch/read) it. Sometimes I'll listen to a song and feel like I'm going to cry, but I don't. And sometimes I listen to a song, and I start crying and I don't know why. For example, once I was listening to “Till There Was You ” and suddenly I choked up! No clue why, though.
If I seem to act unkind, it's only me, it's not my mind that is confusing things.

I just recently listened to John’s 1970 Rolling Stone interview and he said that when he listened to certain songs, sometimes they would just sound different. The same song that would sound very fast or very loud one day would take on a completely different feel the next day. He said that his personal experience always made the song what it was on a particular day.
So I guess no song has made me cry, but my own personal experiences have made me feel differently about a particular song from time to time. I remember walking around this beautiful park we have in my city just after it rained and it just smelled so fresh and it was completely buzzing so I played Abbey Road . Tracks like Because and Sun King and Golden Slumbers all took on completely new meanings for me because of what I was experiencing.
I sat on a rug, biding my time, drinking her wine

Long, Long, Long . Euphoric cries. That was a summer of ecstasy.
You all will have read that Dave Dee is no longer with us. But Mickey and Titch and I would like to carry on the good work that's always gone down in number two.

Oh hang on- The Long And Winding Road & Imagine have made me cry.
Well this isn't really a song but… I once couldn't find a poster my mom got for me from Liverpool and started crying. I sound so baby-ish! But it's all right, I've got it back.
Step on the gas and wipe that tear away.

A Day In The Life is probably my favourite Beatles song. I well up listening to it on rare occasions, depending on my mood I guess.
I often cry when I listen to Here Today , especially Paul’s live version at the Amoeba Record Store in Hollywood. He breaks down half way through, and someone from the audience shouts “Love you, Paul.” It’s really emotional.
EDIT: Here's a video of the song. Not the best quality, and someone is talking on their phone at the start, but you get the idea.
Demo versions of songs by John like Mother and Beautiful Boy give me chills. Just listening to his music when it’s so raw.
And then when I saw Paul live I cried 5 times, at Magical Mystery Tour (just because it was the first song he played, and I cried as soon as I saw him aha), Blackbird , Here Today , A Day In The Life and Get Back (because he looked at me while singing one of the choruses, I swear!)
I think it's great you're going through a phase,
and I'm awfully glad it'll all be over in a couple
of days
