At the very end of the mono ‘Hey Jude ‘ Ringo starts to speed up as well, it’s in the fade-out.

Its because Ringo’s fills are alternating throughout the whole song. Goes back to quarter notes, then explodes into those fills. The ending can sound like mayhem but is so well crafted.

In “Yellow Submarine ” when John starts to sing “Everyone of us…” and ends with a “yihaaa!!..” or whatever he says there.

his finest performance imo
it’s really remarkable how you can still discover new stuff in Beatles songs after being familiar with them for so long!

Hello
I have comeback to the forum after years. I wanted to restart with replying to this lovely topic
In “That means a lot” when Paul says: “A touch can mean so much when it’s all you’ve got” I feel really nostalgic as I could barely attract girls when I was very young and I was deeply in love with a religious girl. The sad and later funny thing is that I didn’t get that touch.

The moment straight after Paul sings somebody spoke and I went into a dream always gives me goosebumps.

Not sure if this one has been mentioned yet, but I love the ‘off key’ piano played by Paul in George’s ‘I Want To Tell You ‘! It really enhances an already good song!

That piano part is a high point of the whole album. The harmonies in the outro also lean into finding the dissonance in motion, searching for those nice crunchy half step intervals… “I’ve got tiiiiiiiiiime” Very psychedelic

In “Hunt You Down/Naked/C-link” from Egypt Station there are a few moments of very simple but effective guitar.
It’s at 1:40 just before Naked starts. [Did not realize that my first post was just over 10 years ago! I was so much older then, I’m younger than that now]

The bass in the chorus of Hey Bulldog . I don’t know the musical term for it, but the thing where the emphasis moves in each iteration of the line is
I got into the song very recently (thanks to a YouTube comment about the video for Lady Madonna ). On first listen I wasn’t that impressed, but by the end of the day I had it on a loop. Then it led me down a rabbit hole of isolated McCartney basslines — which I recommend by the way

@William Shears Campbell Very underrated song. Another excellent McCartney-Elvis Costello collaboration
@meaigs Right! I have always felt that this is McCartney’s best bass line of his career. (My book is published by Hey Bulldog ! Press)

My favourite song on the album….the chordal progression around the “and if I seem to act unkind…..”etc is so ahead of its time and gets to me every time I hear it.
Now correct me if I’m wrong but I think the progression is Bm7, Bm7-5, A, B7, Bm7, Bm7-5, A….or along those lines…perhaps.
And my bird can't sing......!!

It’s not a great rendition overall, but I love how Paul puts a bit of “Revolver “-style Indianisms into his wordless vocal break in “If I Needed Someone ” here

This is a good song! I hadn’t heard it before. It seems like loads of his B-sides are missing from Apple Music.
