The one that grabbed me today (from memory…I wasn’t listening to it at the moment) was when John sings at the end “Help me! Help me!”I started thinking about John asking someone to help him learn how to help himself.
Simon and Garfunkel would answer him. (“We’d like to help you learn to help yourself.”)

The Let It Be guitar solo. The one on the album, though, not the single version. Absolutely adore it.

I could actually list these for a while. Let’s see…
- The intro to I’ve Just Seen A Face
- John’s vocals on Mr. Moonlight
- The harmonies in the chorus of Run For Your Life
- Outta college, money is spent, see no future, pay no rent, etc.
- The first parts of Happiness is a Warm Gun (not too fond of the rest)
- John’s backing vocals during the second section of Hey Jude
- And I’ll send All My Loving to you…
- John’s unique vocals for Twist And Shout and Money (That’s What I Want)
- Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes/Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns
- The bridge between Golden Slumbers and Carry That Weight
- The reprise of You Never Give Me Your Money in Carry That Weight
- The “loves you, yeah yeah yeah, she loves you, yeah yeah yeah” from All You Need Is Love
And I could go on for a while.

@ScrambledEggs Funny, I feel the opposite. Of course the 2 “Let It Be ” solos were supposed to both appear at the same time. Must be a Phil Spector-ism that one appeared on the single and the other on the album. The single version solo really has direction, rising and then coming back down and ending just in the nick of time before the lyrics resume. The album solo IMO meanders around, just the way you might expect a ‘background’ solo to do.

I’d use the exact same words to describe the Let it Be single solo! Every time I hear it I get a feeling that the melody just wanders aimlessly. I suppose it’s the lower tones that give me that vibe. It would do great as a background solo, though, I think.
But now you have given me a different perspective. I had no idea that the two solos were meant to go together. Thanks for that piece of information!

Wow, I actually just learned that about the two Let It Be solos, and I was going to post. Beat me to it.
(This signature brought to you by Net Boy and Net Girl. Putting messages in modems since 1996.)
The first cord in Hard Day’s Night, and also (solo john lennon song) the funeral bells at the beginning of Mother
Yoko burned the rice again, ya know.

I didn’t notice that it had already been mentioned! Difficult to trawl through 18 pages

Here’s a search tip that might help you @LikeASir, and all others who want to give it a try. My Google search here is
“should have known better” site:beatlesbible.com/forum/the-songs/song-fragments-that-really-grab-you
At first the Google results page only showed 1 result. Then I clicked on the link to show omitted results. It can be a little bit confusing, but I quickly located your post and ISWD’s original post. A couple of other people mentioned that song too. Once a page loads, use ctrl+f and search for a keyword on the page.
You don’t always have to get that specific. Your search could be just your keywords followed by site:beatlesbible.com/forum or if you want to search Joe’s information pages too, leave off forum at the end of the search string.
Sometimes this method works well. Sometimes not. Sometimes it is better to use the search function within the forum. The match phrase option is very nice. Searching just topic titles can be eye opening.
Play around with the various search methods if you like. I’m hoping many people will and teach me things I haven’t discovered yet. Don’t forget the * and %
Hope this helps.
Hum, now for a song fragment that grabs me. I’ve already put at least 2 posts in this thread. I will pick a different fragment. “Well, well, well. You’re feeling fine.”

@IrateMarauder
The light bells at the beginning of “Starting Over” contrasting with those funeral bells at the beginning of “Mother ” were (sadly) supposed to signal a more hopeful mood on Lennon’s part (according to Lennon in one of his interviews).

Eleanor Rigby waits at the window wearing a face that she keeps in a jar by the door.
Mean Mr Mustard lives in the park shaves in the dark trying to save paper.

Also, I love the middle eight of What You’re Doing .
Pretty much all songs catch me whenever they’re in major key and there’s some minor key in there, like in And Your Bird Can Sing and the chorus of Getting Better .
