Oh wow a song I’ve never heard before! Still yet to get to the BBC albums.
Of the bbc version versus the video i’d iay i’d prefer the video. Lots of energy there, and it’s a cool snapshot of the beatles coming so soon after they replaced Pete with Ringo.
I should be able to actually do these daily soon as my vacation comes to a close.

The footage of The Beatles performing this at the Cavern has so much raw energy. Not only was it shot the day after Ringo replaced Pete Best in the band…
Not quite, it was Ringo’s 4th show with them as an official Beatle. He joined them at Hulme Hall in Port Sunlight on the 18th August, they had an evening session at the Cavern on the 19th, the Majestic Ballroom in Crewe on the 20th, and the filmed lunchtime session at the Cavern was on the 22nd.

You’re completely right of course, and I’ve no idea why I even thought the events were on consecutive days. I think The Beatles even had to borrow Johnny Hutchinson for a couple of gigs between Pete Best leaving and Ringo joining them at Port Sunlight.

One of the strongest memories of my childhood is dancing around with my two younger sisters in their bedroom to this song shortly after ‘Live At The BBC ‘ came out.
I love the Beatles playing this, such powerful performances every time whether in the Cavern or on the BBC.
