Revolver sounds like the soundtrack to the Beatles’ summer of 1966 (and my summer of every year) to me. I can hear the garden parties with their nascent LSD adventures in the production and the backing vocals and everything.

Offline I seen it put somewhere that it might actually be Pauls bass on ‘she said’ after all and that they just kept his very basic pass at the backing track before he left the studio in a huff and then John and George did the overdubs.
The passing tones sound very much a Macca type idea but the actual playing sounds more like from someone who is not a melodic bass player.
I guess we will never know!
