Well, I’m stupid. Revolution 9 is certainly a great piece of music, even if of the Avant Garde variety. I truly like this song, (not enough to add it to my IPod, but still). I was wrong here as I was about TNK. I can’t believe I ever disliked it so much. Although I still much prefer Good Night .

Changing your mind about, or warming up to a track does not make you stupid. It just proves you are becoming more open-minded (that's what I tell myself anyway).
I actually did not skip it while listening to the WA again last night. I'm still not a huge fan of it, but hearing the little bitties others in the Forum bring up is kinda fun.

You know, this song is actually good (to me), and it was sooooo funny, because I was playing the Beatles (White Album ) at me friend's house, and she was listening to it, but in the middle of the song, she screamed!! It was hilarious!!

I showed it to many friend too and she said it scared her. This song is not meant to be played in the dark. But I don't hate it anymore. It is only played when I play the album as a whole. But if it is on shuffle on my iTunes, I rather skip it.

Did she scream as a joke? Or did something actually freak her out?
Just the song Revolution 9 freaked her out, she was literally screaming at it, it was really funny. but her mom came in and sarcastically said “is everything ok? Do I need to call the doctor?”

When friends come over and stay more than I expect it, there's no better song to make them go home.
(Especially if you play before Blue Jay Way )

Someone posted this link to a live performance of Revolution 9 at Reddit. It’s actually…. good. Edit: Sorry, I missed that mithvaen had posted it long ago. But it’s got to be new to someone.

I love Rev.9 because of the whole theory if you play it backwards; however, I love it forward as well. Although I love it, I can’t listen to it as much as the other Beatles songs or play it in the car. I played it backwards for some of my husband’s friends who like The Beatles, yet claim they were a boyband, even though like the later stuff. Anyways to quiet them up I made them play Rev. 9 backwards and it freaked them out to say the least. Mission accomplished.

I Hate this with a passion. However, what do you guys think
I don’t mind it, it also makes for a great discussion and seems to fit the crazy ‘everything goes’ vibe of the album.

Hahaha, I’d never thought to listen to it backwards so I’m doing it now. It would certainly make for an effective horror soundtrack.

I have no issue with Revolution 9 , it has interesting moments and the stero mix is a real mind melt when played thru the earphones – would rather listen to it than Hold Me Tight .
Have never listened to it backwards (or any other song fully), don’t see the point.

For years I never saw the point of ‘R9’.
Recently, I find myself playing it more and more as it is growing on me. I only listen to it through headphones and pick up a little something new with each listen.

When I’m having a play through of all the Beatles albums in order I never skip it but I can’t say I actually enjoy it. I find it slightly boring but I do like some of the little bits in it such as George’s “Eldorado” and the chat about going to see a surgeon (in the thick Liverpool accent!) It does make me laugh to picture Paul’s face when John insisted it be on the album.

When I first listened to this song, I was on a walk in a rainy night, near a forest… I must admit it wasn’t that scary, but I did turn my head a few times when Lennon came with his screaming. It was interesting.
I actually like this song a lot, it’s probably just an experiment never meant to be something more, but I find this to be great. And we all have to keep in mind that “Revolution 9 ” is the leader in it’s own category – compare it to other avant-garde songs from the time and you’ll know what I mean.

Think of the simplest Beatle song you can…………….Whatever one you’ve settled on ‘I’ couldn’t write a song half as good. Give me a day and Abbey Rd’s facilities………And I could knock out a Revolution No 10.

Go ahead then. Abbey Road was using a 4-track then, an easy music recording program to find for free for a computer. I look forward to hearing Revolution No. 10 this time tomorrow!
