I think Revolution 1 suits the setting of the White Album better (as there’s already things like Helter Skelter and Yer Blues standing on Rocking-Yer-Arse-With-Fuzzy-Guitar duties).
Revolution the B-Side stands better on its own terms on the B-Side balancing and contrasting Hey Jude .
It would have been interesting if the Beatles had set a trend with album track versions of singles always being different. I guess this did come along (sort of) in the 90s with dance remixes of indie singles (the Chemical Brothers doing the Maincs for instance). But it would have been interesting to hear the album versions of singles from The Who, the Stones etc. I don’t mean in the Pink Floyd way of just lopping off 20 mins to fit something on a 45 but a different interpretation entirely.
