Interestingly, I could not find a YouTube of “Rain ” (just a straight version, with lyrics, not some cover version) — however, I could easily find any number of other Beatles songs there.
Even the YouTube of “Rain ” included in the Songs section here at Beatles Bible in that song’s article does not play, and instead has an error message saying that Apple Corps, Ltd. will not allow it to be played.
Why is “Rain ” treated differently from other Beatles songs?
Any other Beatles songs with a similar restriction?

I have found YouTube quite random as far as things being taken down for infringement. The ones that make me wonder are when promo videos are taken off; I always thought their point was to, you know, promote the song.
I noticed this when I was looking up the Free As A Bird video a few weeks ago, it was on there for years and then gone. It’s not like you can buy it anywhere easy and the tube would kill their sales (I’m not sure being on the bonus DVD on Anthology makes it generally available).

I uploaded a few official videos to my little-used YouTube account a while ago. I think they’ve all been taken down on orders of Apple Corps.
I suspect (hope) they might be preparing a DVD/Blu-ray of official promo videos, and don’t want people uploading lesser-quality copies in the meantime. They took down Magical Mystery Tour before that was reissued, and Let It Be vanished soon after (not that there’s been any news on that).
It’s a bit of a pain, because I’ve embedded quite a few unofficial videos on my song pages, and occasionally they just vanish leaving a big black box on my pages. There’s no way of getting a warning when someone else’s video gets taken down. If you spot something broken on one of my features please leave a comment on that page and I’ll take it down.

Ooh, an official collection of Beatles videos would be wonderful! (Especially if it included songs from the movies, like “Can’t Buy Me Love ” and “Another Girl “, standalone things that look and function just like the promo videos. But I guess there wouldn’t be room for them all, unless we’re talking about a 3-or-more disc box. And I suppose it would be redundant, too.)

Apple would probably arse it up anyway by giving us ‘1 – The Promo’s’ just so they could reissue 1 again, meaning that the Strawberry Fields Forever promo wouldn’t be included along with a whole load of others. They would then issue a limited edition box with just the SFF promo yet costing an extra £12.

That was great! Thanks, parlance. I guess if Rain was in A Hard Day’s Night that’s what it would have looked like.

Nice!
Other than the fact that Paul would have had his toofus intact. ;->

Great find. Had never seen this film clip. Would have liked to see a bit more of Paul’s bass or Ringo’s drums and wonder why it was in black and white.

I had trouble finding the ‘Hey Jude ‘ live video this past weekend, I eventually found one with Spanish subtitles and poor quality video/audio, but the ones that I regularly watch are nowhere to be found. There was an excellent splitscreen comparison of the different edits that was of very high quality that’s sadly been removed, guess I can still always pull out the ‘Anthology’ version but the interviews cut in that one and disrupt the flow…:-)

Love that “Rain ” video footage – so mesmerising and effortlessly psychedelic without relying on fisheye lenses or other gimmicks. Also love the prominent sunlight in a video supposedly about rain. Plus it’s full of my favourite colour, green.
