People aren’t their opinions.
I agree about Eight Days A Week and Hey Jude . They are a bit overplayed IMO
Also RadiantCowbells is amazing.

Don’t you think it’s very irrelevant to say RadiantCowbells is amazing, it’d be like if we were having a conversation about Drive My Car and Out Of The Blue I decide to say The Simpsons is the best TV show of all time, you may like RadiantCowbells, whatever that is, but do you really need to say it at the end of a post like that where it is completely irrelevant.

I think the below two are good examples:
Overrated – Blackbird
Underrated – Mother Nature’s Son
Blackbird is a great song but it doesn’t have as much depth as Mother Nature’s Son so it gets more repetitive and less interesting on each listen.
9 times out of 10 i’d rather listen to Mother Nature’s Son .

I’ll chime in with two more:
Overrated: Accross The Universe
This song gets very repetitive with rather bored sounding vocals.
Underrated: Don’t Bother Me
This song, IMO, is the closest the Beatles got to a Latin song, and has a really good groove.

It’s definitely a great song, but I don’t know why you took back what you said originally? Even though it’s great it DOES sound dated. I imagine it even sounded dated in the late 60’s.
What I meant is that it sounds a lot less dated compared to the horrible quality version I had before.

I agree with you on Here Comes The Sun . It’s far too overplayed compared to other songs.
Octopus’s Garden is my favourite Ringo song if i’m not counting With A Little Help From My Friends .

I’d add to the underrated pile (tho i’ve probably stated it before) ‘Run For Your Life ‘ and ‘What Goes On ‘ as they are often slated for daring to exist never mind be on a Beatles record. ‘Run For Your Life ‘ is all out nasty John with a fabulous vocal from him and some wonderful guitar work from George. But the words aren’t very nice and we cant have that.George liked it, enough said.‘What Goes On ‘ has the best Ringo vocal on anything, the harmonies and backing vocals from John and Paul are amazing and again George’s C&W guitar work is incredible. And just listen to Ringo’s drumming. How solid can you get on a recording?
I completely agree with you on these two. What Goes On took a few listens before it grew on me (now I think it encapsulates the first side) and Run For Your Life is the perfect symmetrical closer for Rubber Soul as the song, along with Drive My Car , bookends the album with two satirical depictions of male/female relationships, in contrast to the nuance of what is in-between.
Completely disagree. Funny how with The Beatles the best songs are miles better than most other artists but their worst songs seem to be miles below that standard. Ringo’s vocal on What Goes On is like nails on a chalkboard, the melody sounds like something I could have come up with on a recorder on a year 2 music class and the guitar performance sounds scrappy, and the production fails to create a spark where the song doesnt deliver.
Run For Your Life isn’t as bad but compared with the other stuff on the album (In My Life , Norwegian Wood , Michelle ) it just does nothing as a song and the lyrics are basically a worse version of You Can’t Do That . Plus when I first saw the title I thought it was going to be something epic, (reminded me of Doctor Who) but it’s as flat and boring as they ever got.

I personally think What You’re Doing is criminally underrated. It’s such a beautiful little song. It’s my favourite Beatles song. Not only because it’s so pretty and unusual, it’s because it’s lesser known too.
Someone else who loves What You’re Doing ! Love the guitar riff, drum intro and tremolos on piano.

But not always. Adore ‘What You’re Doing ‘; the drums, backing vocals which occasionally have no idea what they are meant to be saying, the solo which always reminds me of an angry traffic jam. Take 11 is one of the greatest Beatles outtakes.

I meant more in the way of that you can clearly hear it’s a song from the early 60’s. That definitely doesn’t mean it’s a bad song (it’s great!) because there are many, many songs (from The Beatles and many other bands) where you can clearly discern that they are from a specific time-period… but they’re still awesome!
Compare songs like I Saw Her Standing There , PS I Love You and I Feel Fine to Ticket To Ride , Paperback Writer and Rain . The latter three songs sound like they could have been recorded today while the first three, albeit being great tunes, are children of their time.

Paperback Writer ? I have to disagree with you on that one. That sounds a little dated to me too. I think I Saw Her Standing There is pretty timeless too.

I may be a needle in a haystack but I think that Mr. Moonlight is underrated, it’s one of my favorite songs on Beatles For Sale , especially with that African feel and organ solo, I think it’s underrated.

I agree completely, it’s definitely not my least favourite track on Beatles For Sale (that’d probably be Kansas City or Honey Don’t ). Fans seem to like to bash it because of the organ solo but I haven’t got a problem with it. It gives a unique sound you don’t hear on other Beatles tracks.
