WHAT???? WMGG is amazing! I actually wish it had the extra verse that George had in the original
To add to the topic: Helter Skelter , I always assume to be nearly over when it is only half over, still a rocking song though

No interest in hearing the fabled half-hour version then?

My interest in hearing the 28-min version was reduced somewhat (like, from a 99 on a 1-to-10 scale down to 93 or so) when they let us hear that boring blues-jammy take on Anthology 3 – if that’s an indication of what the unreleased one is like, I doubt I’d want to hear the whole thing more than once or twice. Otherwise, yeah: let us hear it!
“And Your Bird…” really feels too short to me, thanks especially to the way it concludes, weirdly, with that one chord otherwise not present in the song, followed by Paul noodling away on the bass for a few seconds. It really gives an air of ambiguousness and inconclusiveness to the thing, like they hadn’t actually thought of an ending for the song. I always want more!

it drags on a little too much too much. The instrumental break makes it seem so long.
And if you saw my love, I'll love her to.

Argh! I knew I missing a song that’s too long in length. Agree with you, that song drags on forever.

Most songs are too short. That’s okay though, because they always make me want to come back, wanting more.
However, Within You Without You goes on forever and I really have to be in the mood before I can listen to it.

I could very happily have Within You, Without You lasting longer with the instrumental passage extended (which for me is too short).
I’d agree that Blue Jay Way would be better shortened and MMT, snipping the “Mystery Trip” section.

I am happy with the 23 second length of “Her Majesty .” If you have ever listened to that dreadful four minute version* available on the internet, you would agree. Three full verses, each one about Paul needing a “bellyful” of something to work up his courage to talk to the queen, a cluttered bridge about the rest of the royal family, a corny Vaudevillian ending with a slower tempo… As George might have said “Paul, it’s all too much.” The only passage worth hearing again is John’s lengthy, seat-of-the-pants slide guitar solo.
*This is, of course, all made up, except for the part about John playing slide guitar. 23 seconds is the perfect length for “Her Majesty .” Ditties need to know enough not to overstay their welcome.

Too short can be a good thing. It can be good to leave people wanting more.
The Abbey Road medley is good because you just get brief snatches of one song before you’re straightaway catapulted into something totally different which makes it exhilarating to listen to.
A lot of folks are criticising Hey Jude for being too long.
According to Ian McDonald’s book “Revolution in the head”, the Beatles deliberately timed the fade out so that it lasted 1 second longer than MacArthur Park, which was the longest ever number 1 single up to that point.
Also, I think we should remember that the Beatles were very influenced by Indian culture and religious ideas, meditation etc at the time and I believe they looked upon the coda of Hey Jude as a kind of mantra. I think they wanted it to be a hypnotic thing that goes on and on and builds in intensity. It wouldn’t have been the same if they had faded it out after a few seconds.

I get that, but I don’t really think of it that way. It’s just repetitive to me.
