People keep telling me things will improve. And who knows, they usually do. In the meantime, it’s good to know that we can all be alone together here.
I don’t know if they do. I think with time we become accustomed to our situation, and find enough light to stay interested in life despite any pain we feel. My light is listening to music, reading, writing and recently doing jigsaw puzzles.
I’d agree with this. We have an ability to slowly settle into a situation, adapting and accepting/resigning as required.

All things aren’t better with time.
How can a heart hurt as badly as mine,
And still go on beating inside?”‘It’s Over‘ – Kendall Payne

My experience is that things go around in cycles. I seem to be at a place in my life where I was 20 years ago. If that’s true, I should be where I want to be again in a few years. But you have to stop going round at some point.
My mind tells me that now I’m 51 and coronavirus is a perpetual thing I may be stuck in this situation. But I see little glimmers here and there.
in 2017 I started what I called my Dakota phase. I was staying home and not working because everything was provided for. It was actually very similar to John’s situation in many ways. But my phase ended in 2020 when my marriage and life fell apart. I haven’t been shot to death but I probably would have welcomed it last winter.
My emotional outlook keeps improving. Maybe I need my “sailing to Bermuda” experience.

I can definitely see circles and repeating moments. I think the idea is that you learn from the past so as not to repeat the same mistakes and therefore change the direction even slightly – something that can eventually lead to far better, or not. It can be hard to do tho.
I alway come back to John singing ‘And so dear friends we’ll just have to carry on”; there is no other option but to keep going as to not (wallow, deny, refuse etc) doesn’t help. Always be honest with yourself tho, if it’s hard going admit it. Bad days will come, accept them and let them pass; denying how you feel or are finding it only leads to it all eventually overwhelming you.

Absolutely the same for me, in regards to the God lyrics. I remember that John felt extremely low at times as well but he kept going. I have no doubt he’d say and do the same again, if he could.
