The Daily Beatle has an entry of Peter Jackson talking about the process of making the video.I think it’s really cool that Pete Best has become involved in this, it gives it more of a completing the circle event.
The CD single is now on sale at The Beatles site and will be available on Amazon and elsewhere so I have bought a copy (even from the official site). One reason is, as someone else said, it will look good next to the other reunion tracks; another is I want the single to do well. In a day when selling 20 copies gets you into the top 5 in the UK, it would be quite horrible if ‘NAT’ didn’t get high up. I really want this to go well and streaming it isn’t anywhere similar. Hopefully a lot of fans will be buying physical copies, makes me think folk are giving back (I know most folk have bought 73 copies of ‘Pepper’ and own ‘She Loves You ‘ 493 times over on all the releases).
I have no idea how to do that linking thing where Joe gets some percentage so I’d leave that to someone else.
I might actually get excited about this. Will certainly be listening on Thursday.
Joe’s linking (in my signature) is for Amazon and iTunes. If anyone needs help understanding or figuring out those links let me know. The revenue really helps Joe with the site.
I love the Minions! Glad you’re getting a copy, mmm.

I pre-ordered the CD single from the official Beatles web store today. I’m excited about receiving it!
The Beatles are on the cover of Radio Times this week with a feature about the new release.
It’s great that Pete has provided some footage for the music video.

Pretty convinced its going to be good now after watching that. Paul says that he’s the one who plays the guitar solo as a tribute to George. Does that mean George plays the acoustic part, kept from the anthology sessions? Either way I’m pleased with the bits that they play in the video. Getting to the point where I’m really excited now.

For some reason I was cynical about this release, I can’t even put my finger on why, its not that I don’t trust Paul (Although Giles hasn’t completely won me over), but that video has everything you would want. Its exciting, emotional, and genuine. Their reasoning for needing to isolate the vocal goes back decades and the timing makes sense coming off of the Get Back movie, which is similar in scope to the Anthology series. I can’t wait to hear the full thing, and I watched that video on my phone before work, I’m gonna put it on the TV through my nice speakers this evening when I get home and watch it again.

I am here, as you are here, as here is we, and we are all together.
I love you all, and I’m almost crying.
That video was so good. The vocals are so good. The STRING PARTS are so good…
I’ve heard so many fan versions…
None like this…None like this.
I’m on the verge CRYING and it’s not even out yet, god help me.
I love this band, I love this demo, I’m going to love this song…but more than that…I love those four men, and I love all of you.
Time to show the world why The Beatles, and no other band, RUN this Sh*t!
I can’t take this…I can’t believe it… =’) We’re alive to see this.

Sorry to double post, but I wanna say something:
You know, many people out there in this world like to listen to music as this ambiguous white noise you put on while you drink a beer or something that you bob your head to, jam out, and don’t give it a second thought, but music–THIS BAND’S music–has been the one constant thing in my life that has never left me. Every day. I don’t hear words or a riff when I listen to The Beatles. I see the entire SESSION in my head. I see John saying “Dub The mic on the piano” and “Sugarplum Fairy, Sugarplum Fairy” chewing gum to keep time, trying to figure out what those 20 bars in the middle are going to sound like, yet secretly wondering “Am i going to do this forever? I guess this is my life now” – I don’t listen to “All You Need Is Love ” with a bobbing head and think “Cool tune” like others might. I see the entire live broadcast in my head. The flower in Paul’s hair, the confetti. the multi-language signs – I see the lives of those four men told through sound. Snapshots of history. Moments that shaped the very ways we think of and CONSUME music…and now we are here. The very last entirely new song arrangement these four will ever make…after this, there’s…there’s nothing left. Anything in the vaults that is currently known to exist has been either released in some capacity or cannot be done with material from all four that was meant for the same project…..
and I’m alive for it.
I am….ALL in my emotions!
People can say what they want about “Ohhhh it’s not a real Beatles song with Paul’s older voice” or “Ohhhh the cover art blah blah” But we are getting THE last Beatles song, and you are all alive to witness it. Whether you like everything about the song or it’s marketing or not: Tomorrow is a time of celebration and musical history the likes of which we Beatles fans will never, ever have again. It is the last time those four men will be together on the same track with previously unheard material, save perhaps Carnival Of Light . No matter what the song itself sounds like – regardless if it uses past material or not – the fact remains that we will never hear anything like what we are about to hear again, Be thankful and glad Paul and Ringo lived long enough to give it to us, because THAT is all that counts. Nothing more.
It’s time for The Beatled to make history as only they can. One last time.
You can tell your children and grandchildren we were here, many years from now..
Savor it! 🙂

I believe there’s a message, in the listing, that both electric and acoustic parts come from George, but the slide solo is Paul.
This 12-minute clip alone has certainly got me quite excited, and I’m thinking this will be a fitting track to go with the others.
Wheels might be in motion at Apple to give Free As A Bird and Real Love the MAL treatment and/or a new mix by Giles, and that they become a three-song EP CD release along with this one. Would be fitting. Would also explain why there is no CD version of the single as of yet.

Per the official site:
John Lennon – lead and backing vocals
Paul McCartney – lead and backing vocals, bass, slide guitar, piano, electric harpsichord, shaker
George Harrison – backing vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar
Ringo Starr – backing vocals, drums, tambourine, shaker
So, yes! George is here! 🙂

Also of note, this is the only one of the three reunion songs where Paul used his Hofner bass.
On Free As A Bird , he played his Wal five-string. On Real Love , he did three bass tracks, two with his Fender Jazz (one through a Mesa Boogie amp and one DI), and one with the double bass formerly owned by Bill Black (gifted to him by Linda).

There is a CD single. It’s available to buy from The Beatles site, Amazon etc.
George would be here thru the harmonies from ‘Because ‘ and ‘HTAE’ even if the 90’s instruments were not.
I’m lost by the idea that having all four makes it a Beatles record. There are a ton of Beatles songs that don’t feature all four and are not thought to be less ‘Beatles’; which leads to one of my favourite George quotes
“I didn’t mind not being on the record, because it was none of my business … If it had been ‘The Ballad of John, George and Yoko’, then I would have been on it.”

I get what you mean by this, but at the same time it would be strange to call a song that John Paul George and Ringo are the only musicians credited something besides a Beatles song. I agree its strange considering George and John are passive and posthumous contributors.

So the lyrics are up on the youtube video and…I can see some people being mad at the choice to do what they did, without spoiling
Thoughts?
Mad at the choice to include the lyrics on the video, do you mean?
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.
