Well of course not. It isn’t listened to like that.
Okay, fine, I’ve adjusted my theory. In the first verse, Mr Moonlight sends narrator guy a girl. Then, in the second verse, he’s praying for Mr Moonlight to send him and his wife a child. Nothing pedophilic about it.

Yes, I am sure it does, seeing as I am only finding my own meaning in it for my own personal enjoyment. This is how I, Me, and Mine like to think of it: nothing more. My very personal readings into it has absolutely no bearing on the song itself, or what its creators and/or performers intended.

Offline To Mr. Sun king, I actually am rather remiss in Jerry Lee Lewis (a deficiency I should try to work on in the future); I know he’s a great influence in music. I admit I was kind of indulging in exploiting the general rumor about him. Frank Sinatra I do know and respect enormously; but more important to me is my principle of not having any sacred cows…

Yes, that is exactly how I meant it. Like couples would to pray to God to bring them a child– only this is a highly singular deity known as Mr Moonlight and immortalised in a little-known pop song later covered by a British rock group that changed the world and…. etc., etc.

I thought that’s what you meant. I couldnt figure out why people were saying you meant that the singer was a pedophile.

What has this place become?
Nobody demeaned or slandered anyone. It is a well known fact that Lewis, then age 22, married a 13 year old – his cousin no less. You can’t fault somebody for telling the truth. The comment was harmless.
As for the “what has this place become” remark, it’s the same place it always was when you were a regular poster. The only difference is in the members – many have moved on, many are new(er). We all have our own ideas and viewpoints. We all deserve to be treated with respect. Please don’t let it “become” anything less.

My Bible lessons finally paid off. I thought you might be thinking about the story of Abraham and Sarah praying for a baby. I would imagine that not everyone on the forum knows that story, but I may be wrong about that.
I’m with you in that I thought @Into the Sky with Diamonds made his post tongue-in-cheek, but then it seemed like the sentiments were spiraling downward.
I thought I’d pipe up and get the air cleared. You have proven yourself to be a good, kind person. I didn’t think you would post bad things.
