Maybe there are people of British decent near you, because I had never heard it before Joe said it

I've also heard people talk about losing the will to live and pot-shots, and while maybe not “bore the life out of me,” I've deinitely heard the term “bored to death.” I don't think those are exclusively British turns of phrase, either.

Oh that's funny. Thanks for letting me know. Occasionally I rewrite things because I think some people wouldn't get the meaning, but now I think I'll just go ahead and say it anyway.

I don't think 'Bores the life out of me' is really a common British phrase – it just happened to be the way I felt on that particular day. I occasionally hear 'Bores the pants off me'. Pants here are underpants, not trousers.

skye – I lived in Phoenix for only 14 years, but even I've heard of Sun City Wales. You need to get out more.

Speaking of British vernacular; for years I never understood the phrase used by the Black Knight in “The Holy Grail” when he said “Pull the other one”. Then, when I finally looked it up, the exchange made more sense – and was funnier.

Doesn't that count for all of Zig's posts?

When you say she's looking good

She acts as if it's understood.

She's cool, ooh, ooh, ooh

A Hard Day's Night: “.. So why do I bitch or I moan.. 'cause when I get you alone.. ”

I know it doesn't rhym it's just what I've always heard!

I Want To Tell You : “When I get near you.. the kids begin to drag me down..”

I blame this on one of The Beatles cartoon episodes, where george is surrounded by children during practice a-hard-days-night-paul-6

Do I have to keep on talking till I can't go on!

Hi guys, has anyone of you too has thought that perhapsgeorge-martin has tried to tell a story with the compositions on Side B of Yellow Submarine .

Story about a place called Pepperland , a nice peace loving place which is then destroyed by the March Of The Meanies , until it is laid Waste..

The whole music arrangement always sems to say this to me…

Edit : I think i posted this in the wrong thread, my apologies, but can anyone answer this!

I always thought he meant she was aloof which, I guess, could have been a mixture of cold and fab. Thoughts?

I never really thought of it that way, but it is an interesting idea. I enjoy classical music, so I do have an appreciation for what george-martin was able to pull off on this album. I will have to listen more closely to hear what you are hearing.

Thanks – I appreciate the opportunuity to enjoy those arrangements more than I already do!mal-evans

EDIT: – Once you have been in this forum for a while, you may discover there is no such thing as the wrong thread! Personally, I stopped apologizing months ago.

I definitely agree about her being less awesome and more disinterested. She knows she's hot, she knows she can have anyone she wants, and that's why the attention you give her really doesn't register.

Or even…the same person! (dunh dunh DUNH!!!!) a-hard-days-night-ringo-6 That's what we need, a Beatles-inspired soap-opera. Let It Be doesn't count!

Ooh, probably my 4th 17 (or 9) out of 70-ish posts!

Cool=aloof makes more sense. So basically she doesn't care about what he feels – she mocks him in public and is indifferent to his affection.
