Listening to ‘Ride Rajbun’ earlier and was convinced he was singing ‘Attila The Hun’ whereas looking up the lyrics reveals it to be Tallitobun. I prefer Attila The Hun.
Also thought it was
You may think that you have heard the last of Katman,
I’ve got news for you, my friend, I’ll stick to Batman.
which is one hell of a brilliant lyric. Sadly it’s “I’ll stick to that man”.

I’ve just listened to If You Wanna from the album Flaming Pie for the first time and instead of I’ll take you for a ride in my Cadillac I first understood I’ll take you for a ride in McCartney-land all the time. McCartney-land… That must be a great country @Ahhh Girl, mustn’t it?

Even since I was little I thought the line in Can’t Buy Me Love was “I don’t care to watch for money”. I thought this until a few weeks ago while listening to to Hey Jude (The Capitol Album) when I realized that Paul was saying “I don’t care too much for money”

That’s interesting because we had something like that a while back in this thread, let’s see if I can find it… here it is:

Until 6 months ago, I always thought it was “I don’t care to march for money” instead of “I don’t care too much for money”. I find that particularly amusing…
This line seems to be quite easy to misunderstand, apparently.

Okay, here’s what I swear I’m hearing at one point in “Happiness Is A Warm Gun ” —
“Mother Supeeridge owns a guh-uh-uh-un,
Mother Supeeridge owns a guh-uh-uh-un,
Mother Supeeridge owns a guh-uh-uh-un,
Mother Supeeridge owns a guh-uh-uh-un…” (etc.)
Why are they adding that “-dg” sound in the word supposed to be “Superior”…?

The Continuing Story of Happiness Is A Warm Gun …
Another part of the song, what I hear is this:
“I need a fix ’cause I’m going down,
down to the bitch that I left up… town…”
To me, that’s much better than “bits”…

I always took it as meaning that he needs his fix so he can be whole again, and not in bits of himself.

I’m glad no one picked up on my gaffe about “Happiness Is A Warm Gun “. It’s not “Mother Superior owned a gun” — it’s “Mother Superior jumped the gun”. That “-idge” that so baffled me comes from the j sound of “jumped” which, coupled with the British way they say “Superior” (lacking that fulsomely rounded American R pronunciation), and the fact that there’s a hint of a Liverpuddlian pronunciation of “jumped” (making it closer to “owned”), all together produces that effect.

I was really disappointed when I found out it was ‘I read the news today, oh boy’ not ‘old boy’. Old boy, to me, sounds so much more British.

Instead of the line ‘I don’t believe in Yoga’ in John’s song God , I initially understood ‘I don’t believe in Yoko’ which made me wonder whether I got the whole message of the song the totally wrong way. So I sat down and pondered on different solutions to the ‘problem’ which involved John meaning it all ironic, John temporarily changing the perspective, or John making deliberately contradictive lyrics to confuse everyone and secretly have a laugh.
Only after about twenty minutes, it occurred to me to listen to the song again and find out that he actually sang ‘Yoga’ instead of ‘Yoko’.

Ahhh Mom found this story in a Reader’s Digest issue and wanted to pass it along.
I was singing along with the radio as it played the Beatles song Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds . As I sang the lyric “the girl with kaleidoscope eyes,” my husband interrupted. “Is that what he’s singing?” he asked. “All these years, I thought it was ‘the girl with colitis goes by.'”
LOL. I wouldn’t put it past John to have sung those words at some point as he was figuring out the song.

In ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand ‘,where they sing ‘It’s such a feeling that,my love,I can’t hide,I can’t hide’,I originally thought they were singing ‘I Get High’. Then,I remember reading that Bob Dylan made the same mistake that I did, when he gave the Beatles marijuana, and was surprised that they hadn’t smoked it before. John had to correct him on the lyric

I always thought the line in Fixing A Hole was “Silly Beatles standing there”
I also used to think the ‘peanuts’ in Drive My Car were something different…

In “Being for the benefit of Mr.Kite!”….
I thought “late of Pablo Fenques Fair” was “late of Pablo bank is there”
and “through a hogshead of real fire” was “…through a dog tail of…”
John’s pronunciation is really weird in that song…

The backwards stuff was no problem at all to “decode” during the time of using tape equipment. Digital gets processed and muffled too much and, with a record (other than risking damage to the stylus): it was an impossibility unless the turntable’s motor was a dc-driven brush type the polarity connection of which could be reversed.
However…playing the likes-of: Rain ; Revolution 9 ; Tomorrow Never Knows ; I’m Only Sleeping ; etc. on something such as an old quadraphonic reel to reel: one can get the opposite side audio signal playing backwards through channels 1 and 3 through the surround speakers amplifier (and everything, obviously, will still remain on the same running speed the source recording is at in the first place).
The line in George’s Love You To : “Love me while you can, you’re a little man” makes perfect sense the way nobody seems to think THAT is what it (actually) is. He’s sarcastically mocking all the hacks and lechers who were cashing-in on the band.
I will play the game Existence to the End ;)
