I always heard it as ‘watch what you do’.
*takes ravings about the isolated vocals over to the You’re Going To Lose That Girl thread*

Woohoooo, I’ve been hearing that one correctly.
Not that I want them to be, but listening to these isolated vocals make me realize our dear Beatles could have been an a capella group.

‘You’re Going To Lose That Girl ‘. I’ve always thought and heard it that when John sings “i’ll make a point of taking her away from you” Paul and George sing “that’s what to do” to which John replies with a very cool “yeah“. However listening to the Fab4Free4All’s review of ‘Help !’ (and reading other places) they have it as George and Paul respond with “watch what you do”.How do others hear the line?
Oooh the isolated vocals (taken from the 5.1 dvd) are on youtube. And it does sound like “watch what you do”. I still prefer mine.
Don’t know about anyone else……….But I can hear a sort of buzzing noise……..5555

You know when you hear (or even think) a phrase, you start singing the Beatles’ song that corresponds to that phrase. I did that today with Tell Me Why , and I realized that I have never known what follows “Tell me what and I’ll apologize. If you don’t I really can’t go on…” I usually sing it to myself as “with this nightshade on my eyes.” ????
Alright, I know that’s stupid, but what do you think the line is, Mr./Ms. Know-It-All? @Beatlebug described this song correctly as a real mumble-fest, but I like it – it has a catchy tune. Or is that a “wretched tomb”?

I guess they sung it with their best Scottish accent.

The first times I heard A Hard Day’s Night , I heard the line “and when I get home to you, I find the things that you do” as “and when I get over you, I find…”. It’s somewhat crude for the Beatles, but I could have sworn that’s what they sang. I have a feeling that John, had he known about how similar these two lines sound, would have tried singing it that way during concerts, when no one could hear him (like he did with I Want To Hold Your Hand ).
No one I think is in my tree

@Pineapple Records, your sig corrected a misheard lyric of mine, and actually I prefer the version I misheard to the real one:
“A ginger sling with a pineapple whore” – to me that just reeks with symbolism, more so than “pineapple heart.” (some of you may not be aware that there is a now out-of-fashion drink called a gin sling)

Spot-on. Have you listened to the a capella version of “Because ” @Ahhh Girl? I think it’s better than the original.
“Forsan et haec olim meminisse juvabit” (“Perhaps one day it will be a pleasure to look back on even this”; Virgil, The Aeneid, Book 1, line 203, where Aeneas says this to his men after the shipwreck that put them on the shores of Africa)

I had, but this was a good excuse to listen to it again!

This is about a George Harrison song, and not a Beatlesong, but close enough, right? It’s too good not to share.
So Little Girl misheard the first line, which is ‘Here we go again’, as something that sounded to my ears like
‘She finds cocaine’.
She insisted it was ‘Shefan cokey’, but I informed her it was ‘Here we go again’. The other was just a little too close to the truth for comfort.
Edit: Post 3300!

I tend not to mishear lyrics very often. The only reason that I don’t too often is because I’m always watching a lyric video, just so the words will get into my brain easier
But, when I first heard I Want To Hold Your Hand, I mistook the line ‘I can’t hide’ for ‘I get high’
You’re in good company.

I get them wrong ALL the time – from lots of artists. Which is odd, as my hearing is generally not too bad for an old codger who listened to his music WAY too loud when he was young.

Until recently, I thought the song on Sgt. Pepper went:
Good Morning, Good Morning, Good Morning Girl. But now I see they are just stretching out that last G.
You are all my friends.
