Not a Beatles song, but I always thought Sam the Sham was singing “It had two big horns, and a wooly dong.” I wondered how he and the Pharaohs could get away with that.
I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

Shouldn’t that be “how many ho’s it takes…”

Actually, I doubt that Paul has had to resort to ho’s very often.

What! The lyrics to Paperback Writer go “if you really like it you can have the rights”!!!! I’ve been singing “if you really like it you can help me write it”.

But in the song he says he is going to write more in a week or two. The person could help him.

In the third verse of ‘Octopus’s Garden ‘ I have always heard the backing vocals in the third verse to repeat what Ringo sings but after listening to the isolated backing vocals i’m not convinced they do. After Ringo sings “The coral that lies beneath the waves”, it sounds far more that John, Paul and George sing “life beneath the ocean waves” (Ringo is singing on top so you need to listen to just the backing vocals). Definitely after Ringo sings “knowing they’re happy and they’re safe” the reply vocal is “happy and we’re safe”. It’s really cool they switched them.

I apologise if someone has said this before but for a long time I thought that in the song “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer “, Macca said “Joan was quizzical, studied about a physical science” instead of “studied ‘pataphysical science”. I have to admit, I have no idea what that is so no wonder I thought he said something else.

When I first listened to the song “Junk” by Paul McCartney , I thought he said “broken-hearted Jew – Billy” but is in fact “broken-hearted jubilee”

In Come Together , I though it was “He got marijuana” instead of “He got muddy water”. And the one I just discovered I had wrong, “My Bonnie lays over the ocean”.

Excellent, a thread for this. My best Beatles mondegreen was hearing Boys as a child and thinking for a long time that
my girl says when I kiss her lips,
gets a thrill through her fingertips, HEY HEY!
was
my girl says when I kiss her lips,
gets a girl through a bag of chips HEY HEY!
so kissing must make you really hungry!
I'm like Necko only I'm a bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin and also everyone. Or is everyone me? Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.

In the song Slow Down , I thought the line was ‘now you don’t care a dime for me’. In one book I read it was ‘now you’ve got a girlfriend down the street’. Infact, if you listen to the recording, Lennons vocals are double-tracked and he sings both lines!

I was playing SFF on my laptop and my younger brother asked me incredulously, “What does that mean?”. He misheard the lyric Strawberry Fields Forever as Strawberry “Feels” Forever.

PeterWeatherby declared to the clever pennies
<snip>2) My own Da’ heard the lyric of “Taxman ” as “… lay clever pennies on your eyes.”
So did I, till I read that it was otherwise. ‘Declare the pennies…’ makes so much more sense.
3) From the same source: the opening line of “Here, There, and Everywhere” was Paul singing, “Peter Weatherby … I need my love to be here.” And an internet username was born.
Aha! I wondered…
Tell Me Why is a real mumble-fest. For the longest time I thought it was ‘did you have to leave me oh so fast’ instead of ‘did you have to treat me oh so bad’, and I’m still not sure whether he’s holding his head or hanging his head and moaning. And after ‘tell me what and I’ll apologise’, well, I’ve begun to think I’ll never figure it out.
And I always heard Think For Yourself as ‘…the future’s still obscured…’ instead of ‘…looks good…’ As for the blunders I made with Love You To , well, I practically rewrote the lyrics. My version was much cleaner…
‘Make the whole day long
Wake up singing songs…’
*sigh*
And I have a hard time figuring out the lyrics to most of George’s solo songs. His singing is… cryptic, at best.

My misheard version of Matchbox :
I said I’m sitting here watching, matchbox holding my comb
I said I’m sitting here wondering, matchbox holding my comb
I ain’t got no matches but I sure got a long way to go
I’m an old poor boy and I’m a long way from home
I’m an old poor boy and I’m a long way from home
I’ve never been happy cause everything I ever did was wrong
Well if you don’t want my features honey, please don’t stick my tree
If you don’t want Beatles features honey, please don’t mess around my tree
I got news for you baby, leave me here invisibly
Well I’ll be your little darling till your big dog comes
Let me be your little darling till your big dog comes
When your big dogs get here, watch how your puppy dog runs
I said I’m sitting here wondering, matchbox holding my comb

I ain’t got no matches but I sure got a long way to go

‘You’re Going To Lose That Girl ‘. I’ve always thought and heard it that when John sings “i’ll make a point of taking her away from you” Paul and George sing “that’s what to do” to which John replies with a very cool “yeah“. However listening to the Fab4Free4All’s review of ‘Help !’ (and reading other places) they have it as George and Paul respond with “watch what you do”.
How do others hear the line?
Oooh the isolated vocals (taken from the 5.1 dvd) are on youtube. And it does sound like “watch what you do”. I still prefer mine.
