I suppose you all know about the general mondegreens sites? kissthisguy.com is one, there used to be one with “mondegreens” in the website name that I know was good and huge. Anyway it’s fun to read a few occasionally…not sure how useful they are to look up specific songs or phrases though.

Just like Bob Dylan, i used to think the “I can’t hide!” from I Want To Hold Your Hand was “I get high!”.
And also, i thought that there were 2 Las in Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da and they sang, “La, la, how the life goes on.”
Oh, and i thought that, in I’m A Loser , John sang, “and i hacked like a clown,” instead of “acted”.

The lyric in Love You To “before I’m a dead old man…”
I had no idea what it was for a while, but for some reason I heard “you’re my little man.”When I thought of that I laughed at myself and started wondering what it actually was… this was fairly recent, actually, probably just a couple months ago I came up with that.
“Or play the game existence to the end” from TNK, as well.
I heard it as “or play the game, make systems to the end.” It really doesn’t make sense, but that’s what I heard.

When I was a kid and even into my teen years, I thought the lyric in A Hard Day’s Night was “so when I mention I’m home ‘cos when I get you alone…” when it’s really “so why on earth should I moan ‘cos when I get you alone.” Took me until my early 20s to suss that out once and for all!

My little brother likes to mock my Beatles listening and likes to sing “Lovely Rita , Retard Maid…”
It’s not that funny really, but I had to mention it

I find it funny.
I thought the lyrics in Real Love were “It’s real love, its real to me.” when it’s only “…it’s ree-e-eal.” Also towards the end in I Am The Walrus when John sings “kicking Edgar Allan Poe”, I misheard it as “kicking a guerrilla” and couldn’t decipher the rest.

For a long time I thought the chorus in I’ll Follow The Sun said “But tomorrow came too soon, I’ll Follow The Sun “.
heeheehee some of these are funny.
My mother always thought that “Paperback Writer ” = “take the last right turn”.
I was in my teens and had to set her straight. It was pretty funny. What’s more, we were in the car, going somewhere. Maybe I should’ve told her to take the last right turn (but I’d’ve been slapped for that!).
(She also thought that CCR’s “Bad Moon Rising” said “there’s a bathroom on the right”. Clearly my mother had some sort of problem with the right. And her ears.)

When I got With The Beatles I listened to Money (That’s What I Want) for pretty much the first time, even though I always new about the even older version, I had just never bothered listening to it before, so the first time I heard it I thought the lyrics “money don’t get everything it’s true, what it don’t get, I can’t use” was “money don’t get everything it’s true, what it don’t get, I got you”

This isn’t song lyrics, but a misunderstanding of the content of what George says in AHDN . And I have to preface this with the fact that I was really into Medieval history then:
When he’s talking to the female reporter who asks what the name of his haircut is, and he says “Arthur”, I thought that he was referencing a serious English name for a haircut style that harkened back to King Arthur and early medieval times. “The Arthur”. Much in the way The Mullet lives on in history.
So after years (My Hiatus), when I saw AHDN in the theatre, I was like, “Oooooooooooohhhhhh he’s quipping. Smartass.”

I thought that the line “see the people standing there” in Fixing A Hole was “see the Beatles standing” instead.

Not really misheard, but Breakfast with the Beatles played Ticket To Ride this morning, and I was thinking sometimes it sounds like they’re singing “ticket to Rawhide.”

And after watching Living In The Material World I think I know why he said Arthur instead of any other name.
According to Paul they had a friend named Arthur who always used to say of George’s hair, “it looks like a fookin’ tuhrbin.” So although the style was different, (no longer a turban) it still reminded him of Arthur.
