I think I would have liked it to be on Beatles For Sale but then everyone would talk about Mr Moonlight being a ‘lost’ song. Where would it go on the album?

Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.

I like this song a lot. John’s vocal on it can be counted as one of his very best, IMO.

George Martin had a knack for getting the most out of track placement. That’s why I remain surprised that BFS started with such a mellow tune. If this song did make the final cut, I feel it would have been a great Side One closer, Side Two opener or Side Two closer.

With John’s “you’d better leave” faded ending it would be a great closer to side 2. The problem is where do you place ‘ETTBMB’ if ‘Mr Moonlight ‘ is the one that’s dropped? Maybe Apple will give us the album it was destined to be for its 100 anniversary after they’ve pissed about with every other album.

Let’s discuss that here.

I love this track and it was a shame that it wasn’t featured on Beatles For Sale but I am glad it finally got it’s time on Anthology 1 .
This is one of John’s most vicious sounding vocal performances and is possibly the most aggressive sounding Beatles songs, which is maybe why it was left off of Beatles For Sale as it was a little to heavy and aggressive for a band that had the cute Beatlemania image to live up to at that time.
