I welcome your thoughts about this little snippet. Is it The Beatles or not?
Note by Ahhh Girl 29 July 2014: I combined 4 threads that all had “Is this real” as the title. Thread 1 consisted of posts 1-17. Thread 2 consisted of posts 18-21. Thread 3 consisted of posts 22-27. Thread 4 consisted of posts 28-31.

Nat – I listened to it a few times. Like you, I am very skeptical.
The sound quality is not very good, but I still don't think it sounds much like John at all. I'd be curious to see what others in the Forum think.
Thanks for sharing.

Yep, Zig. Looking at my FB comments and those on my site, most concur that this is not The Beatles. I hope to get a few more opinions though and that those listening will not let the outnumbering no-votes influence the carefulness of their final decisions on real or not-real.

No way that's John. There isn't enough nose. It might be old, but it's not The Beatles. It sounds like a voice I've heard before but I can't place it.
Also, you're asking this forum? We have trouble with known Beatles songs.
Lol…just looking for a consensus instead of merely trusting my own ears. Most seem to agree with me that this is someone else.

Thanks. I agree with you – I don't think it's The Beatles.
Have you heard Peace Of Mind/The Candle Burns? It's said by some to be a 1967 outtake but I don't think it's them either.

I presume someone added extra instruments to that. Here's a more basic version:
The vocals sound nothing like The Beatles' though.

I guess there was another outtake from that year called Mr. Death. It was supposedly a Lennon composition. The words went something along the lines of “Mr. Death, come out to play, Mr. Death, here today”, according to the man who “discovered it”.

Entirely real. The Black Album was one of the early vinyl bootlegs containing outtakes from The Twickenham Sessions in January 1969. A lot of material from January 1969 is available on YouTube. I suggest typing in The Twickenham Sessions. Should you require further guidance, PM me and I’ll happily give a list of things of interest.

The Black album was a 3LP set issued in the early 80’s that copied all of the vinyl bootleg releases Sweet Apple Trax vol 1 and sides 1 and 2 of Sweet Apple Trax vol 2 issued in 1973.
Black Album Track details for the original vinyl.
Track details for the double cd 1, 2 along with other details.
(Bootlegzone is an excellent resource for beatles and solo bootlegs, you can also get scans of the cover work, sleeve notes and booklets.)
The Black Album was a big release at the time but far superior quality bootlegs of the Get Back material is out there eg Thirty Days from Vigotone which is a best of 17(?) cd boxset or A/B Road from Purple Chick which is a 73(?) cd set of 99.9% of everything known to exist so far from the Get Back sessions (i think a few slate calls are missing).
