Let’s not forget Strawberry Fields Forever & Penny Lane were rushed out as a Single because of how long it was taking them to release Sgt Pepper .
Imagine the impact of those 2 songs if they were on Sgt Pepper .
1967, what an amazing year musically for The Beatles

It has already been said various times now, but this is really an album that works as a whole. The tracks I find myself listening to the least are definitely Fixing A Hole and When I’m Sixty-Four . I like all of the other tracks, yes, even With a little help. I do cheat a bit though, because often when I listen to it I also listen to Sgt Pepper before it.I don’t get why people consider Within You Without You to be a weak song. I mean, you can dislike it, but saying it’s weak? It had great lyrics, the arrangement is amazing..what’s weak about it? Listening to it as we speak and I still think it’s amazing. I used to hate it, but it has grown on me and I think it’s great now.
The only songs on the album I consider genuine top-tier songs are “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds ” and “Within You, Without You” (and maybe “A Day In The Life ” and “Good Morning, Good Morning,” if I’m in a generous mood). The rest are second-tier, on par with the likes of “Misery ,” “I’ll Cry Instead ,” “I Don’t Want To Spoil The Party ,” “Tell Me What You See ,” “Doctor Robert ,” “The Continuing Story Of Bungalow Bill ,” “One After 909 ,” “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer ,” etc.

I just posted somewhere about my least fave song on Sgt. Pepper . I think it’s interesting, and a tribute to the band’s diversity and creativity, that all our favorite and least fave songs are so different. For example, @Duke_of_Kirkcaldy says Lucy, Within You Without You , and “maybe” a couple more are good,, and the rest are 2nd tier, on par with Misery , Doctor Robert , and others. Whereas Lucy and WYWY are two of my least favorite songs on Pepper’s (still think they’re tremendous). I do think Lucy is an incredible song, I think it’s just been overplayed in my ears. The fact that this album, which is generally considered (though apparently not by us) to be one of the best albums ever made, yet not the best of the Beatles, is incredible. Sheesh how good can one band be, surpassing Sgt. Pepper ‘s on as many as 3 other albums (depending on who you’re asking of course)! Most bands would kill to have one album approaching Pepper’s – heck even one song as good as Lucy.
