How come the original stereo mix of I Am The Walrus called RS6 wasn't debuted in the United Kingdom?
Because a copy had been taken to the US by Capitol Records' Voyle Gilmore on 7 November 1967, and they began pressing copies. The Beatles/George Martin later decided that it wasn't a good mix/edit, and it was redone for the UK release on 17 November.

Was that the mix used on Anthology 2 or was that also different?

Interesting to note that it was the first song they recorded after they lost Eppi.

You mean the final stereo mix made on 17 November shows two extra strokes at the beginning at 0:00?

Oh, I almost forgot. I want to show you something.
An edit of mixes 10 and 22 was then made to create what became known as
remix mono 23. The edit can be heard at 2'02″ of mono pressings. It
also had a four-beat introduction, removing two extraneous beats,
although an extra bar before the line “Yellow matter custard” was still
in place at this stage.
I think the only place where an extra bar before the line “Yellow matter custard” is located is on the USA single release. Right, Joe?

In honesty my expertise isn’t really in different pressings/mixes either – there are so many minor details here and there. But if I’ve been able to find out something I’ve probably already put it on the site (or it’s on my to-do list).
I’m based in the UK so I don’t really have many Capitol releases. Apart from the Capitol box sets I have the original MMT album, though IIRC it doesn’t have the extra bar.

Correct. I repeat, use the History Section. If Joe knows anything about what you're saying, it will be there.

Every time I click on this thread I’m hoping there’s talk about how awesome this song is, but I suppose I’ll start. If there’s one thing about John Lennon that sets him apart from any musician…ever is that he has incredible staying power. This song is the finest example I think because it takes an awful lot of listens to really appreciate how cool and out of this world this track is. Think of one song that is this inventive and weird and yet still manages to stay relatively catchy, I can’t think of any. “Oh, untimely death!”

I always listen for that at the end of the song for some reason. I love how whoever says it, says it. This song is so awesome. On facebook if I want to post something that has nothing to do with anything they are saying I just post lyrics of the song. They get confused, haha.

Wait ! I almost forgot. The rhythm track was removed from the mono mix only on “I'm Crying” first and second parts, but one of them was restored when RS6 was made and another was restored when RS25 was made. Right, guys?

1- I could not agree more. A quote from the man himself (you may have heard/read this in Anthology) – “I Am The Walrus is . . . one of my favorite tracks . . . because it's one of those that has enough little bitties going to keep you interested even a hundred years later.”
2 – “Sit you down, father; rest you.”
This is one of those songs that, when I hear it on a radio somewhere, I just stop everything I'm doing and listen. I've been at many a party where I've uttered the words, “Sssssshhhhhh – Walrus is on”.
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

I Am The Walrus Completely in True Stereo Found! It’s not the LOVE version! It is on Magical Mystery Tour Deluxe Volume 1 by Purple Chick! Apparently it’s the anthology mix but I don’t see how. It really is in true stereo the whole way through!
