John’s solo is nice…..
For both songs they work as pastiche ………..They also demonstrate Paul’s versatility………They were never the ‘new direction.’ Part of all their albums were about ‘we can play and write in any style’
Paul wrote 64……when he was 14/16 depending on source……But it was an early song. I read somewhere that a phrase in it is borrowed from a classical piece. maybe something he was learning on the trumpet.
Like ’em or not they are out there and in my opinion add something.

I like both of the songs, they’re not my favourites but they are enjoyable.
I prefer ‘Honey Pie ‘ because I have some good childhood memories of that song. There was this TV show, which I would watch everyday and their theme song was ‘Honey Pie ‘ and I really enjoyed the song but I never knew it was by The Beatles! It has a very catchy tune.
When I’m 64 is nice, I guess. It’s not great but I don’t dislike it. It is impressive that Paul wrote it when he was 16 (or around that age).
