On my ‘On-The-Go’ playlist for my Ipod, I have about 52 Beatles songs, Hey Jude is NOT one of them. I only think the song is good, kind of overrated actually. I also don’t love Revolution , Let It Be , Across The Universe , the really FAMOUS ones. Does anyone else feel this way?
It’s not because I dislike them more than some other songs because they’re super popular, or anything, I just don’t LOVE them. I could do much better with Only A Northern Song compaired too Hey Jude , I know it sounds weird, but still, I like it more.
Not that it’s a problem, I was just wondering what you think of Hey Jude , and maybe compare it to a song like Only A Northern Song , It’s All To Much, You Really Got A Hold On Me , or other underrated gem.

Umm I think Hey Jude kind of blows Only A Northern Song out of the water, but I certainly like Only A Northern Song . Hey Jude is one of the most commercially successful Beatles songs of all time and for good reason. Everyone knows and loves this song and there’s absolutely no denying it. I challenge anyone to go listen to this song right now and not sing along “Na na na nana na na…..nana na na…Hey Jude . I mean come on this song is basically perfect, but I agree it’s not one of my absolute favorites. It’s like most Macca songs for me, I can accept that they’re perfect songs but still not exactly love them.

Ok very personal reason I like Hey Jude , the same reason I think Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds is not about LSD. Because it’s about Julian Lennon. He’s my favorite solo singer, and I love his music.
The problem is that those very emblematic songs can be cheapened quite easily. I went to Paul’s concert and I loved singing Hey Jude , it was one of the moments I thought I was going to cry. But then Paul did his “only girls” “only boys”, and I was like “Ok, let’s have fun” but later I was like “Oh Paul come on.. this is Hey Jude ..” And don’t take me wrong, I loved the concert, I think it was the musical experience of my lifetieme and I wouldn’t never change it again. (ask anybody in here or read my endless rant about it)
So maybe you have listened to those songs a lot, so you’re like.. “empachado”. It’s an expression we use in Mexico when you eat too much of something that you feel you will never eat that food again. But once you forget how it tastes, you are willing to try it again.
And come on, how come you don’t like Across The Universe ?? Try the Naked version.. it’s awesome.

I think “Jude” is pretty bloody undeniable – even though I think the coda could’ve been shaved of a minute or two. (And Paul’s “Ju-day Ju-day-ow-wow!” grates – it sounds more contrived and rehearsed than spontaneous, although that’s probably inevitable after hearing the song about 6943 times.) Let’s just say that I think of “Hey Jude ” as two separate songs joined together, and that I love the first and admire the second.
As for “It’s All Too Much ” and “Only A Northern Song “, what can I say? I LOVE George when he’s in droning-organ mode! Are those two songs overlooked because they’re hidden away on a disposable non-album, or were they really second-rate efforts that didn’t deserve to be on a proper album? I know my answer: They’re the greatest slices of (non-Lennon) psychedelia in the whole damn catalog. (And major components in my “Alternate Hystery Tour” project that I can’t seem to stop hyping, heh heh!)
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

I didn’t say I don’t like that songs (i.e. Across The Universe ), in fact I love them, but I just like some underrated songs more…
I don’t blame anyone for saying “Hey Jude > Only A Northern Song “, but mines that other way around.
I know, I’m different.

Hey Jude is just another great song in a catalog of great songs.
Granted, the chant at the end could have been shorter…

When I am asked what do you think of (insert Beatle song title here), I think “what’s not to like?”
If I enjoy the music, lyrics or both – fantastic. If not, there is usually something else to like about the song – the story behind it, the way a particular instrument is played, the way the singer sings a certain line, etc…
I’ve made no secret of my “least favorite” Fab songs in the past and will not get into it again here. But even my least favorites have something to like about them (yes, even The Long and Boring Song).
So, to answer the original question – I like Hey Jude .

Now, I need to know your “least favorite” song… keep in mind, I don’t know, I’m pretty new here. Not like I’m going to judge you, xD.
Also, I agree with your something good to say about all The Beatles songs, I feel the same.

Well when he said “The Long And Boring Song” I was think that it must be The Long And Winding Road , but I was just making sure. I like that song, but I RARELY listen too it, although I’ll must likely listen to it now that it’s been mentioned.
When I Twish And Shout, it makes the Girl say "What Goes On?", and than I say, "I do this Here, There and Everywhere", and than she finishes by saying "Honey Don't".

I’ll say it again: I don’t get the “under/overrated” stuff.
Or
maybe I must say I don’t care about “rates”. You like or not like some
song. Period.
I think Hey Jude is a perfect classic, a
very beautiful song; and in addition, one of those rare moments where I
feel I can see the real Paul McCartney , his intimacy. Or as Guru Pitka
said “into – me – I – see”.
I'd like to say "thank you" on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we passed the audition.
