(Excuse the soundtrack “Bond” part here in the clip) but, it is the 1965 mix nonetheless: with George’s backing harmony being louder (than the way Paul’s was later boosted in 1987) and, the ending is also not as what G.M. (later) tidied it up like (they hum until they’re almost out-of-breath on the original).
I will play the game Existence to the End ;)

Offline This song really came alive to me as I listened to it this morning. Help me get my feet back on the ground – he remembers there was a time when his feet were planted firmly on solid ground. Hamburg/early Cavern Club John was self assured, independent, and secure, but now a world of craziness is swirling about him and he doesn’t even know which way to look. It’s like I could see John’s life up until that song flash before my eyes.

It’s that interestingly strange time dilation (or contraction) The Beatles caused, since when John had those profound feelings to write Help it was only like 2 or 3 years later from the early days — but the way it sounds it’s like he’s writing of a time 10 or 20 years in the past.

As John said, he was impressed with Help even more as he got older, to see his younger self he was communicating so honestly and clear, without any drug assistance. The song is all him.
