Is John singing: “now I can’t complain” or “no, I can’t complain”?

I hear it as “now”, but the lyrics websites vary between the two.

Anyway, I recently noticed that we have Paul’s handwritten lyrics for Getting Better (published on this website on 21 June 2023) showing: “now I can’t complain”.

And in the end

The love you take is equal to the love you make

Interesting, I have always heard “no, I can’t complain” but can concede that Paul probably knows best.

I think it's great you're going through a phase,

and I'm awfully glad it'll all be over in a couple

of days

Sounds like “now” to me, and the fact that it follows the corollary “…used to…” certainly implies that “now” is what’s being sung.

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Yes, I agree. It sounds like “now” to me and it’s contextually more correct.
