Mine would probably have to be While My Guitar Gently Weeps , but for the sake of giving credit to a lesser known, I’ll say I Want To Tell You .

Tough choices. I’d usually say Something , Here Comes The Sun or While My Guitar Gently Weeps , but I’ve been feeling I Need You a lot recently. So right now I’ll say that.

Let me explain why this is a very different task for me. It’s because most of his songs are just among the very best! I said it in the ‘George is my favourite Beatle’ thread and I’ll say it here, he may still be underrated. From Revolver onward, every one of his songs is among the best on the album. (for me of course)
Let’s put it like that:
Don’t Bother Me 7 / 10
I Need You 7,5 / 10
You Like Me Too Much 7 / 10
Think For Yourself 7,5 / 10
If I Needed Someone 8 / 10
Taxman 9 / 10
Love You To 9,5 / 10
I Want To Tell You 7,5 / 10
Within You Without You 10 / 10
Blue Jay Way 9,5 / 10
The Inner Light 10 / 10
While My Guitar Gently Weeps 10 / 10
Piggies 8,5 / 10
Long, Long, Long 9 / 10
Savoy Truffle 8,5 / 10
Only A Northern Song 10 / 10
It’s All Too Much 10 / 10
Something 10 / 10
Here Comes The Sun 10 / 10
Old Brown Shoe 10 / 10
I Me Mine 9,5 / 10
For You Blue 8 / 10

‘Here Comes The Sun ‘ is one of my favourite songs by anyone ever, so it has to be my favourite Harrison Beatle song.
I think most people would choose one of the trinity of ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps ‘, ‘Something ‘ and ‘Here Comes The Sun ‘. Maybe a poll should be done on what people’s favourite George Beatle song is apart from one of these!
It is still a challenge as Monkberry Moon Delight has said, George’s songs that were recorded by The Beatles are generally of a very high standard. At the moment, I really like ‘I Me Mine ‘ and ‘Savoy Truffle ‘, so one of those two probably!

Yes, that should be a poll.

Thanks for putting that together, sb!
Great to see Savoy Truffle ‘s meteoric climb. Hopefully it gets to #1 next poll!

I Want To Tell You is possibly my favourite of his. I think it’s the most confident and well-arranged, also the one where he shows his most honest and un-pretentious, it sounds like something by Paul or John, which means it’s at their level. The riff is great also. If not, then Here Comes The Sun , which has been overplayed, but it’s still charming and beautiful.

The piano playing is phenomenal on I Want To Tell You . Those crunchy dissonant chords are what I live for as a pianist.
I am also stunned at how low you rated some of those. Give some of them another chance, they are great songs!

I am aware of the issue as I’ve faced criticism many times for my skepticism towards Beatles-era Harrison in the past. But frankly, I’m afraid the ones you’re probably referring to haven’t been not checked out enough. I’m on the line of people who prefer to listen to albums wholistically, which has given me lots of chances to get to enjoy the tracks I didn’t get at first. I rarely listen to just “tracks”. Beatles albums have been probably the main soundtrack of my life for the past few years. And in my experience, the tracks you’re referring to have only gotten down on my rankings. I used to enjoy Something , but with time I’ve come to discover everytime I listen to it I get kind of bored and I’m just waiting for it to be finished; a lot of people praise the riff or the vocal melodies, but even though it is mildly charming, I think it’s bland. Within You Without You used to be tolerable but it’s too long and each time I just find it less and less original. And with While My Guitar Gently Weeps , well, you already know I have history with it, I’ve given that track many chances and we just don’t get along.
I’m a big fan of All Things Must Pass . It’s one of my very few 10/10 records. But that contrasts with the fact that I hold the belief that George Harrison was an overrated Beatle (there’s a lot of people who think he’s the best and I would have to wholeheartly disagree having Paul and John on line I mean come on), and unfortunately his greatest hits I’ve never been fond of. With the exception of Here Comes The Sun , which I found phenomenally arraged. As far as I know he flourished to the fullest after the break-up and his first and best masterpiece was Wah-Wah .

I love the piano as well … I assume that was Paul working his magic again!?

Yep. Paul’s piano is usually perfect for the song, without it the song would not be as good. Same for Sexy Sadie and WMGGW

This song has the biggest sense of longing I think I’ve ever heard. Very atmospheric. A work of art really.

@Magill – I’m sure I ranked Blue Jay Way a 10 in the last forum poll. In fact, looking at the 22 songs George wrote for the Beatles, I don’t think I ranked any of them below an 8. Next time I’m in LA, I’ll drive up and take a picture of the Blue Jay Way house and post it. I think about it all the time, but it looks a lot different in my imagination.
Blue Jay Way (in me mind)
1567 Blue Jay Way (in reality)
