What are your favourite opening lines to Beatle songs?
I have 3 that come to mind
1. She was just 17. You know what I mean?
2. Is there anybody going to listen to my story?
3. Flew in from Miami beach BOAC

My selections are predominantly by Lennon:
“Half of what I say is meaningless…”
“Well I’d rather see you dead little girl than to be with another man.”
“Picture yourself in a boat on a river…”
“She said I know what it’s like to be dead.”
“Honey piiiiiiiieeee”
“I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.”
“She’s not a girl who misses much.”

Let me take you down cause I’m going to Strawberry Fields…
Blackbird singing in the dead of night, take these broken wings and learn to fly…
Close your eyes and I’ll kiss you, tomorrow I’ll miss you…
There are places I remember, all my life though some have changed, some forever not for better…
Try to see it my way, do I have to keep on talking till I can’t go on…
These are the ones I can think of right now.

long long long said
“I, once had a girl, or should I say, she once had me.“
Seconded. The 1-3-1-3-1-3-1 phrasing means a lot. Same deal with “Flew in from Miami Beach…”, the line just sings so great.
“I read the news today, oh boy”
“Eleanor Rigby , picks up the rice” etc.

Well, you could also hear that line from a lot of artists – gives you so many to choose from!

I’m not keen on picking “favorite” things related to Beatles songs. You’ll notice my lack of posts in those types of threads. I love all The Beatles songs. I’m hesitant to put these here. I think I just did it because they go together thematically.
— Close your eyes and I’ll kiss you
— Who knows how long I’ve loved you
— It feels so right now, Hold Me Tight
— You don’t realize how much I need you
— I get high when I see you go by
— Love, Love Me Do
— She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah

I really like the way Help ! begins, even though it’s not much of a line. I like how it starts so suddenly and loudly, like a real cry for help. And the harmonies are wonderfully spot-on (is there even a point in pointing that out? They’re always spot on).
