I love this song. I know it’s not one of the Beatles masterpieces but I think it’s too damn good. The chorus is quite catchy and it has a out-of-this-world quality. I just can’t explain.
Any fans of Don’t Pass Me By ?
I love it. It’s in a similar vein to The Continuing Story Of Bungalow Bill and just as off the wall. Never worked out why the mono and stereo versions are so different though, is it simply the mono is sped up or have they somehow changed the key with a pitch control?

In the 50th deluxe book, it’s written that the track was first laid down by Ringo playing piano and Paul on drums which goes against what has been written everywhere where it’s reversed. It does seem strange that they would play it that way (Ringo giving up his drums to Paul on his own song) so what’s going on?
Would this be the only Beatles song with Ringo and drums on it but he not playing them?
@Joe
@rankingthebeatles, I see that @meanmistermustard has puzzled over this very issue so I brought your question to this thread.
Thanks for joining us and posting!
Thank you! It’s super interesting even the book from WH50 says it’s Paul. Love that even after all this time, mysteries still abound. I’m gonna have to go with that official documenting from the band there.
